Hummm, not sure about that, there are a few hundred people around that during the day, so would draw a lot of attention to it all ... especially if someone does drop down into a crowded street, it's almost saying ... "look at me, I've just dropped down there and not acting as though I'm a stunt man, I must be a spy, quick, everyone follow and tell the villains where I am heading!" Although chance would be a fine thing, don't know if Blair would allow it or those in the Commons.

Theres a lot of interesting stunts that could be performed on or around Big Ben. One that just came to mind is Bond could be fighting a villian on the face of the clock. The fight would begin inside the clock, and end up on the outside. Bond doesnt need to be the one to fall off Big Ben, but the villian he's fighting.

And if the line wasnt already used as a lame Seagal movie, Bond could have looked down at the dead villian and remark "Hmm, half past dead"

The Clock made a lof of noise.

Hasn't Jackie Chan just done the Big Ben 'thing' in Shanghai Knights ?
Action movie producers may be wiser not to touch the location for a few years for fear of comparisons.

Considering the fuss caused by members of parliament about noise when filming TWINE boat chase alongside the building(they allowed filming in the end as it would create "tourism"), I don't think it will be allowed. I'm pretty sure Big Ben is a listed historical building and was recently renovated.

CGI would look too cheesy. A replica or model would also look dumb.

Big Ben is a bell...

The building is St Stephen's Clock Tower.

This aside - the Robert Powell version of The Thirty Nine Steps springs to mind

I thought it as known as Westminister Tower, mind you, apparantly, it is accepted as being called Big Ben due to so many calling it and recognising it as having that name. Also, in OHMSS's title sequence ... wasn't there a figure hanging off the hour/minute hand of a clock ... whether or not that is to represent 'Big Ben' (or whatver you wish to call it) I don't know.
