Question for the old timers...in 1979 did it just mean she had a nice head?!

Goodhead meant then exactly what it means today. :)

The name is tacky, even for a Bond film, if you ask me. I wish she was called Gala Brand.

Golly gee, I always thought it meant she was smart. :)

Ok i don't know the ages of you people but i'm sure the term 'head' has only come about recently. My mates have been using it for like two years. They should have given her pigtails and bond could have made a handlebars quip. haha!

Maybe it's cause you're younger Matt? When I was 12 '69' seemed like a brand spanking new term, but it had been around for ages.

Lois Chiles comments on the name herself in some documentry. It does indeed refer to oral sex, and it did then. Nothing to do with her NASA degree.

I always paraphrase her name as Jolly Goodhead.

Wish they'd stuck with Brand but.

Yes, Lois Chiles talks about the tacky nature of the name in the "Moonraker" documentary on the DVD.

I think its a great name - its so bad that its good, the other funny thing is if you're watching it with friends who haven't seen it - it takes a while for the name to register with them :), but the reaction when they do is great.

If you think Moores face is hiysterical in Moonraker.... you should check his expression out in Octopussy when Magda says "thats my little octopussy" while theyre in bed..... priceless. Gets me everytime.

First of all, "old timers"? Second, uh, no, it meant oral sex, just like it does now. Just like it has ever since the early '60s.

Roger could always make the best faces, the guy was a great comedian, when Holly introduces herself, you can totally tell he gets how dirty the name is, awesome...

It's interesting that if you look at these forums theres way more posts for Roger than Sean. Maybe its cause most people here didn't grow up with Sean's films but i'd put forward that on the cbn forums Roger is numero uno bondo.

Certainly is for me.

Holly is such a nothing name in conjunction with Goodhead. Pussy Galore, now that's a name.

I wonder if the urge was there to actually make her first name Felicia.

Could you imagine if Gooodhead had actually turned out to be a man, as Bond had previously assumed? God forbid, they prolly would have taken it one step too far and called him something like Barry. And I like Felicia, but it would have been funnier if her name was Juwanna.:)

It was quite funny when your parents ask you whose the Bond girl in this film. :) But then again, I remembered Lois Chiles finding it quite funny when she explained on a documentary: "How I'm going to explain this one to may parents?" -speaking of her characters name.

Personally, I've always found it to be a fun name, but what can you expect sometimes from the screenwriters for a Bond girl name? Yes, this one's more direct than others, but I don't see a probllem with it.

I don't see a problem with it....but as I grew up that twinkle in Bonds eye upon meeting her takes on a whole new meaning! :)
