Timothy Dalton in "Passion's Way" 1997

Ok, I must admit I actually enjoyed most of this period romantic drama.
Set in the 1900's, its about two soulmates who are reunited
after being separated for years. Dalton played an american chap
called Charles Darrow and managed to pull off a fairly acceptable
american accent - unfortunatley slurring into Irish-Welsh-English
at times. His suits were wonderful though, mainly a collection of
3 piece suits and an occasional hat which made him look like
Indiana Jones at times. Even managed to wear a couple of neat
dinner jackets too. And he can handle a horse pretty well!

Looks wise, he didn't seem a day over 50 and kept a side parting
like in TLD. As a bloke, even I found him very attractive with
his handsome looks, strong jawline, famous bullet-hole chin and
lovely green eyes. When Dalton was in his 20's, people often
compared him to a "young Laurence Olivier".
Tim did quite well in this romatic lead which suited him and
his screen presence was strong if somewhat wooden and emotionless
at times. The film also features a narration by Dalton
(as Darrow), reflecting about his romances and thoughts.

I guess the budget for this film wasn't too high as some
scenes were out of focus and featured some dodgy camera work.
It was also filmed in the Czech Republic.

Still, it was an enjoyable if somewhat slow-moving drama. After
seeing this, I kept wondering why Tim never did any recent drama
roles on the BBC or ITV - they've been so many good quality dramas
and thrillers on British televison that would have suited Tim's
acting style. He could have played a detective or villain or even
a hero of some sort.

I missed this thread, so missed the programme, but glad you enjoyed it.
I would like to see Tim in more British productions, my favorite being Framed, Eddie Myers, great role.
