Timothy Dalton simply gets a bad rap. why after 13 years of Moore's "light touch" to the role . The producer's changed direction with the character of James Bond. Dalton who all can agree was the finest actor trained actor in the role . Brought a seriousness the role that out did even Connery. It was much closer to Fleming's Bond . He played him for what Bond is a paid assassin , not a wine shiffing playboy spy. After 2 film , 1 well received the other not marketed well at all. He left the role, or his own or just pushed. Did Bronsan befit from the Dalton years more than we might admit. Dalton face 2 things , Connery or Moore. People love both , many still have very divided thoughts on who was better in the role. Then Dalton steps in to the role , an a new approach was taken. When Bronsan grabs a machine gun and fires away, no one laughs . Yet in the Dalton years it was the violence that was move to the forefront. Look at the airbase fight in TLD or the death of the drug -czar in LTK. Do we have Dalton to thank for wiping otu the Memory of Roger Moore and his "light touch". An returning to a more grittier Bond.
