Roger Moore a horny bastard? Really? I just thought he was a very romantic man, always making plans for nis next date even in the face of danger.

Horny would mean he would even bang little Bibi Dahl in FYEO. No I just think that James Bond is a romantic man. He's got style, class and very big expense account.

Bond to Solitaire - "Now don't go anywhere, I shan't be long!", as 2 big black guys are going to go rough him up...

Roger Moore is married to some Swedish model more than half his age.

As too the "dirty old man" Bond . I do not feel that Moonraker was where it started . Remember after Moonraker ,Moore film FYEO . Which was a very different film altogether. From a women's point of view , maybe then again no. Moore was still a good "Romantic Leading Man" in 1979. Is Brosnan moving in this direction . Good question , i feel that depends on what type of female character is in Bond 21 .

In FYEO he refused to go to bed with with the gorgeous Bibi -- hardly the action of a dirty old man

I just can't hate it. Despite the Jaws and Britney Spears sub-plot.

YAY! I love Moonraker. Sure there are bits that are absolutely cringeworthy (Gondola, anyone) and bringing back Jaws was a mistake (his scenes are uniformly terrible: from flapping his arms like wings in the pre-credits to the cable cars to "the von Trapp family reject" he falls in love with). Despite these flaws, Moonraker really delivers entertainment. The locations are spectacular - the scouters did a great job. And John Barry's music for this film is nothing less than perfect. The SFX hold up today, and most of the acting is bang on the mark (this doesnt include, unfortunately, the bland Lois Chiles who displays "all the chrisma of an ice machine in her role as Dr. Goodhead", even near the end). Another (very) impressive element is the dialogue - Drax especially gets some great lines and "take a giant step for mankind" is a brilliant death quip. Plus the final scene is so well done... I could go on and on. Moonraker rocks!

I like Moonraker. For me it has the right balance of action and comedy.

Yeah I love that Theme which was slowed down and basically done perfectly if you ask me.. in Moonraker during the Boat Chase Scene!

I think they used it more in the Sean Era!.. maybe 2 times..

BUT Barry used it in Moonraker :)

Whats the name of that piece?

I have no idea....I like the way he has the theme played over the end credits -- quite hauntingly beautiful...

I like the music as well, it's probably the only aspect of the film I can't really complain too much about.

I would love to see John Barry return to the series, he really understands the Bond music - unlike David Arnold who insists on hitting us over the head with the James Bond theme every chance he gets.

I hate to dispute, yes, it gave us the best line, but it wasn't that line. I think it was:

'Take me around the world one more time' - sheer cheese, but classy !

The line isn't bad but what makes it work is the arrangement of the end title song. It makes a rather obvious line into something halfway decent.

I admit to enjoyin Moonraker as well, but it was rather more(pun intended) comedic than the others. But the best line came not from Roger Moore as 007 but from Michael Lonsdale's scenery chewing Hugo Drax: "Look after Mister Bond, see that some harm comes to him." One of the best all time James Bond villian lines.

Drax was one of the best written villains of the entire series.

Agreed, pity the rest of the film he was in wasn't as well written.

I was wondering if anyone notice when Drax is playing piano when Roger first comes in.. they pan the camera to his hands and it looks like he isn't playing..

was that on purpose?? was that to make 007 think he was higher class and bigger/better then he was?

because he didn't look like he was pressing down on the keys?
