From Dark Horizons...
Bond 21: The first 'who will be the director?' rumour has surfaced - Hong Kong filmmaker Tsui Hark ("Black Mask", "Zu Warriors").
This won't happen, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

Interesting, but it negates the rule of only hiring British Filmakers.

Tsui Hark? Unlikely, but perhaps not entirely out of the question.
I remember his name being mentioned a few years ago as a possible director for one of the Star Wars prequels (didn't happen, obviously).
Tsui's most famous films in the West are probably DOUBLE TEAM and KNOCK OFF, both starring Jean Claude Van Damme.
BTW, M_Balje, Terence Young may have been born in China, but he was not, as you imply, Chinese.

John Woo was offered Goldeneye, he declined it himself, so I would not rule anyone out.

This is interesting, but come on folks, EON is well known for only hiring British, or British Commonwealth directors...Last time I checked Vietnam was not a part of the British Commonwealth.
One should note that Brosnan wanted Brett Ratner as the director of "Die Another Day" but EON would not have any of it since Ratner is an American.

I don't know much about Tsui, but I don't imagine he's a citizen of Vietnam any more. I think he moved with his family to Hong Kong when he was in his teens, so I guess he holds Hong Kong citizenship.

As much as I want to lament the choice of a guy who made all those Van Damme movies, they did after all get the guy who did Stop Or My Mom Will Shoot, so like someone said earlier, anything is possible, unfortunately.

So Tsui was British...? And now he's Chinese? Oh well, I don't know much about directors, so whatever.

I like Tsui Hark's style... I'd love it if he came onboard Bond 21.
*prays they don't bring back Lee Tamahori*
