After having read and enjoyed Never Dream of Dying, and knowing that Pierce always wants to dig deeper into the character of Bond, inwas wondering what you all would think if Bond fell in love, a la Tracy, and popped the question again. They wouldn't make it to the wedding--no, she wouldn't die. They would just realize they couldn't stay together, a la Never Dream of Dying. Shaking up the formula is what the people seem to be after, so I thought I would throw this one into the air and see how far it goes. I'd love to see it personally. Bond falls in love with someone, thinks back to Tracy, but decides to go for it again. The ending would be kind of different for Bond, but we'd see Pierce driving off into the sunset in the Aston Martin. It'd be great if this were really going to be his last one. What do you all think?

No...never.

After Tracy I don't think Bond would even be able to get slightly close after making the mistake of letting it happen before and being deeply hurt by it.

I think the closest that they came to letting Bond's guard down is TWINE. To tell you the truth, I was surprised that the Broccollis allowed Bond to fall for Elektra. They go on and on about how Bond never talks about himself and doesn't let his guard down. But that made it a nice change, and Elektra was a perfect match. But having been betrayed, I don't think it would be a good idea for him to fall in love in Bond 21 because:

1.) He just did in TWINE, and he was hurt.
2.) Bond learns from his mistakes.
3.) It's not in his nature to need someone.

And besides, I'd like to finally see a Brosnan Bond that has no traces of personal vendetta in it. All of them, from GE to DAD, have had varying degrees of it in them.

Personally, I think it would not go over well. There have only been two women that have been able to get under Bonds skin (Tracy, and Elektra) and only one did it out of true love. Bond feel for both. To have him genuinely do it again would take away from the magical feel that surrounds Bond and Tracy, and it would just not work.

I would not mind Bond having a quiet minute to himself and pulling out Tracy's wedding ring out of his pocket though...

I was afraid it would get that reaction. I was thinking of some type of scenario with the woman that would shake things up a bit. Bond does get close to some women. Like her or not, Paris Carver was someone dear and close to him. I like those moments in Tomorrow Never Dies when he and Wai Lin have those silent looks, the cues by David Arnold play, and we see there's an attraction brewing there. Brosnan could play something like this really good, I think, and if 21 is going to be his last, like I think it might, then let the man go out at his best.

Granted I want Pierce's possibly last to be his best, but love story for your last one is not the only option, I think the best thing is always to do a great mirror image villian of Bond like Sanchez in LTK, elements from Casino Royale, and Pierce can play up the role of Bond of trully appreciating yet showing no weakness of the villian. I think we've seen enough women in Pierce's Bonds, M's a women, Electra, Lin, Jinx, all strong ones, but we need more tough cool villians to get into Bond's head, and the exploration of how Bond tackles that should produce flemming moments.

No, it wouldn't work. For all the reasons everyone has said so far, Bond does learn from his mistakes. In NDOD, I think he did fall for Tylyn, but he realised that his job was too much for them to really get together. He doesn't really want to put other people in danger like that again, not after Tracy. So Bond falling for someone, maybe, but getting married again? Never, well, maybe to Moneypenny;)
