After just having finished my first novel called 'Glad Ijs' (a dutch expression for 'on thin ice') I am now thinking about my second one.

I'm looking for some male names (first and last names) for a few of my characters and I wanted them to be slightly original, so I thought: Why don't I have someone else have a go at it? (The characters are British.)

Thanks... I think there's something I can use here. Though I could also use a name for a villain from Liechtenstein.

I'm working on a novel that's about a spy sattelite and it's little brother, some sort of transmitter. I will not tell you what it's used for, but the spy sattelite belongs to the British government and I need a code name for both the sattelite and the transmitter... Ideas anyone? :)

One of my favorites was from an early NASA project for a particle-beam weapon developed in the mid 70's (which later became SDI)

SHIELD
- Space
- Heat
- Identification &
- Early
- Liquidation
- Device

Good luck Joyce!

Man...I carry far too much declassified material in my head.:)

How about naming them after the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan. Fat Boy and Little Boy I think, I may be wrong though.

You don,t say if it,s a Bond story or not,but if it is, I think

"Silverlink"

has a nice Bond ring to it.Could even do for a one word title. In fact I think I,ll propose it for Bond21.

They were Little Boy and Fat Man, dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. I did a project on it in High School.

But as for Bond, I don't think such things will fit. Too political, even rather tasteless, seeing as how terrible a chaos the Americans unleashed upon the Japanese there...

Sigh, if we cannot learn from history, we are doomed to repeat it.

However, Robert Oppenheimer quoted an ancient Indian scripture while witnessing the successful testing of the atom bomb: "I am become death, destroyer of worlds." It would be a great line for a Bond villain to use. In fact, I think I'm going to make Harmsway say it in TIME IS THE ENEMY.

Hope I have been of some help. And if not, well, at least it keeps me amused.

Real world surveillance satellites rarely bear such striking names as their fictional counterparts. Nonetheless, they're often amusing and somewhat appropriate. The United States' chief spy satellite, for a number of years, was a unit codenamed BIG BIRD.
