Sorry for bothering you all, but I just finished reading The Man With The Golden Gun while on holidays in Vanuatu (yes, tough I know but someone has to do it), and James Bond is refered to as a limey. I do realise that this is somewhat of a general term refering to the British, but what are the origins of it?

Supposedly it originated when British sailors began to eat limes while at sea to prevent scurvy...hence the term "limey".

Thanks for that. I guess it does make sense, but how gross! ~shudders~ I'm not a big fan of limes.
