I remember in one thread how someone asked about a scar on Bond's back. This scar is more noticeable during the final scene between James Bond and Jinx. The scar is on the upper left side of his back. Many of us think that it is from his torture. Now I tend to think different.

We've yet to notice a wink and nod to Moore's best Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only." I think we may have overlooked one crucial element from FYEO - when Bond and Melina are being dragged across the coral. Bond clearly gets a deep gash in his back - on his left side. Strange, isn't it?

I think that the scar that Bond has on his back in DAD is due to his torture in FYEO. What do you all think? I was lucky to have watched FYEO earlier on TNN, otherwise I would have never noticed.

Nice theory, but I think its more of an homage to Thunderball. Patricia asks Bond about the scar, Bond says "I got it from a widow, he didnt much like me" Ok, that was paraphrased, but thats along the lines of it :)

A homage to FRWL perhaps?

Oh man, thanks Icephoneix. Its not from Thunderball at all, bleh, I havent watched the older films in a while. Ever since DAD grew near, I've been on a Brosnan cycle, watching his three films over and over again.

Really gotta aquaint myself with the classics again :)

Er, it's more like a "homage" to Brosnan's hernia surgery from '94. :)

I was thinking it was from the shoulder injury in TWINE. Of course, I think we see the shoulder scarless in TWINE. Never mind.

I like the FYEO theory.

Isn't it From Russia With Love when Bond is asked about the scar and he says something along the lines of, "another woman, and I haven't turned my back on one since."

But of course! It's been ages since I watched FRWL. TNN aired that so late at night and I wasn't up for staying up till two in the morning to watch one of my fave Bond films. Still, if you watch the torture scene in FYEO I still say the scar is from the coral reef. I dunno, I'll watch FRWL tonight, then compare it to FYEO and get back to you all. No, it isn't Thunderball either - the scar was more of a black and blue bruise on his ribcage.

Why does everyone look for homages in everything?!

It's from his torture for Pete's sake. I can't really believe how geeky this place gets sometimes.

Its because DAD is supposed to contain homages to other Bond movies since it is the 20th Bond movie released on the 40th anniversary of the series and the 50th anniversary of the Bond novels.

I thought Zao's leap through the stained-glass window at the Los Organos clinic might be the nod to FYEO, when Kriegler and Bond go through the window while fighting.
