This may have been discussed earlier, but I'm going to throw in my 10 cents for what it's worth. First, I loved Die Another Day. Bloody, great film. I also thought it was almost a remake of Diamonds Are Forever, only this time they got it right and did it better.

1. Both films have a satellite with a laser cannon put together by diamonds obtained from smuggling. In both cases, Bond is on the case originally to find out about the smuggling.
2. Bond girl is a complete bitch to Bond in the beginning, but eventually melts and sleeps with him. Tiffany Case led the way for Miranda Frost.
3. In both films, Bond is out for revenge. Die Another Day gets it right, whereas Diamonds has Bond finally meeting up again with Blofeld and exchanging pleasantries...just before he kills the wrong pussy.
4. The laser satellite almost brings the world to war, moreso in Die Another Day, since in Diamonds, the superpowers assured each other over the hotline neither one was responsible. It's that damned Blofeld again!
5. A lot of you guys hate the FX work in both films.
If you guys can think of anymore, go ahead. I actually like both films, but I was struck by the similarities.

Well im not to sure that the:
1. satelite in DAD was made of diamonds.
2. Miranda was a bitch in the begining then melted- rather she was a bitch to him t he whole movie

My own:

-There was a black and white women in DAF (bambi and thumper), DAD (jinx and frost)

The two villains' sexual preferences are up in the air. Wint and Kidd were obviously gay, but if you read some of the other threads, Zao and Graves might just be gay, too.

The facial changing thing comes into play. You get the mud bath in DAD, and then they have the cute little masks to wear in DAD.

For some reason, the ending reminded me of DAF's ending- with the final scene much more casual than intimate...and both discussing what to do with the diamonds.

it was no coincidence that i played the title song to DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER in my car before going out to dinner and the movie with my wife on friday night.

DAF needed to be remade,if thats what you want to call it

blofeld and moon both got facial make-overs but moon/graves and zao did not have a sexual relationship. they were loyal comrades in arms in an eastern sense...

only kinky western minds with secret homo-erotic tendencies would mistake their genuine friendship with homosexual love

I think it was referenced a few times that Icarus used diamonds - most notably in Graves speech.
