A year after scoring On Her Majesty's Secret Service, John Barry released the album Ready When You Are J.B., subtitled as "John Barry Plays His Greatest Movie Hits." Among these was a 1970 version of the OHMSS version, which is slightly but noticeably different from the original. Some benevolent soul has posted it to youtube, so have a listen!

I think most would prefer the movie version, but I do like the heavier, more sinister moog and the blaring horns in the middle. Not so sure about the drums.

Awesome!

Love the dirtier moog, and I'm sure about the drums.

1970 version? The youtube clip claims 1977.

The 1977 date is incorrect--one of the comments on the video names the source as the Ready When You Are, J.B. album, which was released in 1970 and whose tracklisting does indeed include OHMSS. A 1977 version would probably have deviated more from the original.

I like it, I like it a lot and I even like the drums, it sounds more current with those.

Interesting...The drums are nasty! The orchestration seems a bit thinner than the original, though.

Good find!

Cracking find.

Not sure about it though.  Does indeed sound a little thinner.
