Skyfall had it's World Premiere at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Will SPECTRE's World Premiere be there or at Odeon, Leicester Square in London? And on which date? It would be great the have the premiere on the UK release date of Friday 23rd October 2015, with a live transmission to all cinemas covering the proceedings before and after the premiere.

I bet it will be at Odeon, Leicester Square on Tuesday, Oct. 20th.
The Royal Albert Hall is booked every day in that week but Monday. So the 19th would be the only possible date, if they want to do it again at the Hall.

My guess would be that date, too, but it's still possible that it'll be on Wednesday, 21nd. Monday 19th can't be entirely ruled out, as well. World Premieres for CR and SF took place on a Tuesday. But DAD was on a Monday and QoS was on a Wednesday.
Based on my impression that they're really going BIG with everything for SPECTRE, Albert Hall on Monday definitely is an option. But it may still happen that they surprise us with an entirely new location (only a gut feeling of mine).
It certainly depends on the timetable for the national premieres in the rest of the world. They'll have big ones (with attendance of stars and crew members who'll have to travel a lot) in France, Italy, Germany, USA. Most likely Netherlands and Spain. Not to certain about Russia this time. Japan and Australia will be at later dates (did I miss anything?). But we may get additional events in Austria and Mexico (maybe Morocco, but very maybe), which would tighten the schedule, so they might be aiming for a World Premiere as early as possible (i.e. Monday).

Good news. I'm betting on the Odeon. It's tradition and the logistics work better than RAH.

That's the full press release as I had it in my inbox. I only left out the usual "About Sony", About MGM" etc. stuff. No venue, no info about public avalability of tickets for the main event. But hat's what it says in the headline: "...ANNOUNCE WORLD PREMIERE AND UK RELEASE DATE...".
But there's nothing yet at the Albert Hall on that date...

Yeah, I just checked as well. Either place is certainly grand, but I'm sort of sentimental about the Odeon. The Moonraker premiere in '79 was a spectacle...Especially for a then 11 year old Bond fan on his first trip to London.

Can i ask what you mean by the logistics between the RAH and Leicester Square? Access, Audience size, Parking, Screen size?
Certainly Tradition falls on the side of Leicester Square, but the opulence of the RAH must surely trump any style the Square may afford...?

So is the first screening going to be simultaneous with the premiere, at 7:30pm-ish? Or will it be afterwards, at about 10pm?

I assume it will be simultaneous. Won't be surprised if some theatres do streams of the red carpet ahead of the first showing.

This isn't a good sign at all; it's a clear signal that the studio have a lack of faith in the movie. In otherwords; they're placing all their chips on the opening weekend, before the reviews and word-of-mouth have a negative effect. Release dates for films of this size are virtually set in stone and are never changed this late in the day for good reasons.
It's the blockbuster equivelant of not having a press screening.

We will see.
"Skyfall" hat its first press screening 2(!) weeks before the UK-release.
So if "Spectre" will have press screenings that early, too - then we shouldn't worry.

nooooo, the blockbuster equivalent of not having a press screening, is not having a press screening. I think you're slightly over estimating the sway of the British Royal family if you think the date they see it being close to general release is a danger sign.

Hasn't it always been that date for the UK and Ireland? Might be more an issue with fixing the date of the premiere, than the release date. If any issue at all.

No, it was planned for a release on the 23rd, and now they pushed it back 3 days.
Normally movies are released on a friday in the UK, not on the monday after the friday.
So now they have 3 more days for post-production.

And as well as my oh-so-telling rolleyes, the fact that a general release date is the same as a Premiere date does not in and of itself preclude multiple press screenings before this date...
If you see news to this effect, that of no press screenings before launch date, then, I am sure, you can go screaming to the hills in search of a whole new hobby.
rolling eyes all over the hills.
