John Calley before becoming the head honcho of Sony pictures worked at MGM and oversaw the making of GOLDENEYE. As you may be aware one of the first things Calley did at Sony was try to start a rival Bond film series, MGM along with EON sued to stop it and won. It is safe to say there is bad blood between Calley and Eon.

Now to the point of this thread.

(spoiler)

DAD features a stunt where Bond and Jinx escape from a large 'cargo' plane in a helicopter. The helicopter plummets towards the ground while Bond desperately tries to start its rotors.

Has anyone seen the trailer for Sony pictures CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2? The Angels are seen driving a semi trailer with a helicopter on it along a bridge. The 'bad guys' fire a missle which forces the truck to drive off the edge of the bridge. Can you guess how the girls escape? That's right, they climb into the helicopter and desperatley try to start its rotors before it plummets into the ground.

Is the nearly identical stunts in DAD and CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2 a coincidence? I wonder what John Calley thinks about having a major set piece from his company's major summer release being seen by cinema goers months before his movie comes out. Dare I say it but I think the people at EON are probably privately amused by this.

Yours sincerely,

Brendon
