Apparently what Daniel Craig wore to the SPECTRE announcement was a big thing:-

http://www.dailymail...lm-Spectre.html

What would Bond say? Daniel Craig ridiculed on Twitter for wearing a 'Christmas jumper' at launch of the new 007 film

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Internet is in meltdown. Was it Kim Kardashian's ass? Was it the Star Wars VII trailer? No! It was what Daniel Craig wore to the SPECTRE announcement -

Daniel Craig left the Twittersphere more than just a little shaken and stirred when he turned up to launch of the new James Bond film - wearing a 'Christmas' knitted jumper.

The usually-stylish actor donned the navy blue crew-neck as he marked the start of the production of Spectre, the 24th installment of the 007 film empire.

And, if that wasn't enough, the actor decided to pair the 'sensible' jumper with grey trousers, a white shirt and a plain pair of black shoes - setting pulses racing for all the wrong reasons.

Despite the excitement surrounding the much-anticipated event, it wasn't long before the questionable ensemble was the talk of the launch, sending Twitter into meltdown.

Mark Machado swiftly announced: 'Daniel Craig has officially opened Christmas jumper season'.

After that, there were a flurry of concerned tweets about Craig's new look.

One user, Montynero, was baffled that the actor had rocked up to the event 'in a Dad jumper looking like a drunk supply teacher'.

While Shirley Lemon wrote: 'Love James Bond. Love Daniel Craig. Love the new title: Spectre. But don't want to see Bond in his sensible jumper.'

Another user explained that the cold weather was 'no excuse' for the knitwear, writing: 'I know it's a bit chilly today but that's no escuse for Daniel Craig to wear such a grandad jumper.'

And Dan Cooper described the look as similar to 'an accountant at a fancy dress ball'.

As one Twitter user pointed out, the jumper 'wasn't even a V-neck'.

The jumper caused such a stir that one Photoshop-savvy user took it upon themselves to superimpose a reindeer onto Craig's top, in a spoof 'Christmas jumper' image which swept the internet.

But for others, the outfit was a welcome change from the swanky suits for which James Bond is well-known.

Kathy Keown tweeted that the jumper gave her 'hope that Spectre's costuming aesthetic will be mainly knitwear'.

And Ismail Mulla thought Craig still looked the part, stating that he 'could make a tartan apron look cool'.

Another user Daniel Blythe took comfort from the fact that, for once in his life, he was 'as stylish as James Bond'.

LOL. That made me chuckle.

While a v-neck might have looked more Bondian than a crew neck, I don't get what the fuss is about.

FWIW, I find Craig's 007 chins more worrying...

I do give my respect to the Photoshopper who added the weight and chins to Craig - a clever piece of editing there

It's funny how the press apply the standards of fictional characters to actors.

Yep, Bond wears a jumper and the internet explodes. Imagine what would happen if he wore a jumper and shared the picture with Kim Kardashian's ass....

Who pays £250 (as that is how much that designer jumper costs) on a Christmas jumper in these people's world?

correction: It's available for £219http://www.npeal.com...klcXUPobY3RoUVA

To be fair, it did look dreadful, and he looked as if he had it on back to front.

Craig wore pretty much the same thing at the photocall for Casino Royale in Prague. So, he has form on the knitwear front.

Wish he'd actually worn a Christmas jumper this time, though. That would have been ace.

I'm sure the Craignotbond.com people are having a field day with this piece of tabloid garbage.. It's almost like the fools whining about the new lightsaber in The Force Awakens.

The hilarious thing is, most of the people complaining about the crewneck probably sit in front of their screens in last year's Bench tees and seldom wear anything but baggy discount jeans. But they sound like Lagerfeld himself...

Yup - to be fair I too thought that perhaps he could have worn a suit, or something a little sharper.  Everyone else looked the part.

But what the hell.

Loved the reindeer motif popped on his front.  Very chucklesome.

i have a blue jumper that is similar to that . Daniel clearly dresses for comfort rather than style, another thing we have in common apart from being extremely handsome.

If it ain't the hair, it's the jumper.

I like Bond in a smart jumper, nothing wrong with it IMO, and even Craig wearing one. Looks smart and, I am sure, warm in December UK weather!

Daniel clearly dresses for comfort rather than style.

As does James Bond. I hate the popular cliche of Bond always wearing a tuxedo. In Fleming's novels he dresses stylishly, but casually.

Actually, he even dresses a bit odd, with short-sleeved shirts under his suits and ties to go with these shirts. That's a somewhat eccentric style that would be considered poor today, at best fitting for used cars salesmen. Bond pulls it off because he couldn't care less. His clothes are good quality, but well-worn and definitely not new or en vogue. When he comes unexpectedly into money he considers buying a couple of new suits. That hints to his not being an avid follower of fashion. Bond is a guy who has found his own style and now only replaces the items that have to go to the Salvation Army. He appreciates quality, even identifies other people's clothes. But ultimately he's not overly interested himself.

Dandy-Bond is solely an invention of the screen, designed to wear overpriced Euro/Anglo or whatever trash, a mail order catalogue dressman to sell the latest in fashion to people whose tastes are defined by what they see advertised.
