Emily Blunt would be a great Bond girl but is this for sure confirmed that Lea Seydoux has been cast?
Not confirmed officially until we hear from EON, but it seems fairly solid.

I think it is official as it was confirmed by Sony to the most important Bond Fan Club in Italy with a mail.

Thanks, that's very interesting.
I have heard that Sony have also confirmed it to the French Bond fan club, but I can't find a link to support this.
EDIT I've just found this.

So the national distribution offices do know about it. Does that mean this scoop was eligible to become public? At least, there's no need for them to know…

I think this could work and she is pretty exotic looking but she definitely could be a deadly henchwoman that Craig gets to deal with. I'm excited for that.

Unlike the Bond films which, to me, are all completely distinct (snort!), the "MI" films tend to run together and I don't remember the one Seydoux was in. I do remember her from "Midnight in Paris" and thought she was lovely - reminded me a little of Jane Birkin. If Emily Blunt were involved it would make 24 something of a Cruise alumnae event. I wonder: in acting class, did she refer to her body as a "blunt instrument"?

Did the talk of Emily Blunt originate here, or was this a rumor from the journalists? As far as I know, it's the former.

It started here. As wishful thinking. Oh Emily Blunt

I've been wanting her to be Bond Girl for some time now. She's absolutely beautiful and after seeing her in Edge Of Tomorrow, I believe she can hold her own in a Bond film or at least in the action film/sci-fi film genre.

I have always adored Emily Blunt! She would be perfect!

I didn't really care for Seydoux in MI:V (Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol). She speaks french doesn't she?

You should, too.

Don't know if this is the right topic but.. Today several sources come with a rumor indicating that Hillary Swank will be part of the cast. Someone says as Irma Bunt.
Just analyze what we know: part of the movie will be in Austria, in a mountain village, there is the possibility that Waltz is going to play Blofeld, now this.
There are three possibilities in my mind:
1) They are planning a film that will lead to OHMSS remake, as Nolan reportedly asks from a lot of time, introduction of Blofeld and of his henchwoman Bunt, then a Nolan OHMSS as last Craig's Bond
2) They are doing OHMSS
3) Everyone is just putting together pieces of informations and hopes and fantasies

I too saw that and I couldn't make anything of it, especially the Irma Bunt factor.

It's intriguing to say the least. Just as Blofeld didn't, Irma Bunt never got her just desserts. Bringing one back without the other, just doesn't seem right. But I kind of think this is all fantasy. Having Casino Royale just 3 films ago, it is far too early for an OHMSS remake.

Hilary Swank as Irma Bunt is a casting choice that I could definitely get behind. I wouldn't mind seeing her in a Bond film, regardless of the role, but I think she'd be a fine choice for that particular one.

Absolutely. Can´t really picture her as a main Bond Girl. Last time a main Bond Girl was uglier than the actor´s wife was Teri Hatcher Of course they will find it difficult to surpass Weisz in that department.

Yeah, I'd say that no matter who they cast it would be difficult to surpass Weisz in that department. I do think, though, that I could see Swank as a main Bond girl, if it were to happen in the very near future. Still, if we're going to be forced to revisit Blofeld, I think that she's an inspired choice for the role of Bunt.

Weisz is indeed very beautiful. Can only see my own wife surpassing her (no, she´s not lurking around the computer She actually looks like Weisz. Bragging I know (lucky bastard), but I did just get married, got the right to brag a bit
That being said, I can really see Swank as Bunt, inspired choice if that´s the case.

Congratulations, Univex!
Fleming wrote Bunt as unattractive, but there's a bit of precedent for portraying her as a knockout. Where, you ask? In the Spanish comic adaptation of OHMSS, she's a sexy blonde. Obviously, however, the filmmakers don't need any precedent at all to readapt a character in any way they choose.

Thank you Major!
Didn´t know about the Spanish comic (didn´t know it even existed. Will investigate). Very interesting.
Cheers.

The website I saw touting Hilary Swank for BOND 24 also suggested 50 Cent will be the next Bond, so I'm not putting a great deal of currency in that idea.

It's a shame that this couldn't have been one of the rumors to come from the more reliable sources. This was actually the first bit of news in what is otherwise shaping up to be Blofeld Begins that I was actually excited about. Hopefully, though, there's some truth to it, although I doubt that there is, given the sites that are running with it thus far.

Yes, it started on Media Mass, a web site that randomly puts together hoax stories as a sort of project. The purpose is parody and to see how ofter their clearly bogus stories are picked up by the press.
For example, compare these stories from them...

Yeah, it seems as though that whole thing was a hoax. What a shame, as that was one of the few bits of good news we've had with regards to this film so far. I guess that alone should have been a tip off that it was a hoax.
