Would've probably been a better movie. Back then he was turning out some great thrillers: the original The Mechanic (which is far better than the remake); The Stone Killer, The Big Sleep, Chato's Land, Scorpio (which i love) and of course cult classic Death Wish. Before all those he'd done Hannibal Brooks, a great WWII movie with Oliver Reed and an elephant!

Perhaps, having just worked together there's some link between Winner and Reed both being associated with Bond after Lazenby quit. Now if Winner could've gotten past collaborator Reed as Bond and future collaborator Bronsan as the villain that would've been a fine Bond movie.

ETA: Forgot to say, excellent thread, George White! I'm looking forward to hearing who else turned Bond down :)

Which was pretty much an exploitation movie, so right up Winner's street.
