Not sure if this topic's been done already, but what are some standout lines from the main Bond villain? For me, even though he barely registers as a true villain in the traditional Bond mold, Dominic Greene (when referencing Bond, himself) truly stands out: "How much do you know about Bond, Camille? Because he's a rather tragic case. His MI6 says he's out of control - nice way of saying that everything he touches seems to wither and die." That line, and Mathieu Almaric's delivery (complete with those cold, black reptilian eyes) really gives me the chills. It also shows his resourcefulness, with him knowing - in classic Bond villain fashion - who Bond's employer is. Great line, for me. So what are your favorite iconic gems delivered by your favorite Bond Baddie?

The villains have always been a favourite element of the films and the books, for me. There are several great lines from them. These are some of my favourites.

Dr No "East, West, just points of the compass, each as stupid as the other. I am a member of SPECTRE"

Blofeld in FRWL - the whole monologue about Siamese fighting fish.

Grant - FRWL "The first one won't kill you. Not the second. Not even the third. Not till you crawl over here and you KISS MY FOOT!"

Goldfinger - the one that always gets quoted "Choose your next witticism carefully Mr Bond, it may be your last" but also "This is gold Mr Bond. All my life I have been in love with its brilliance, its divine heaviness."

Blofeld in TB - "SPECTRE is a dedicated fraternity whose strength lies in the absolute integrity of its members" (A curious code of ethics for a criminal syndicate!)

Next a line that nearly didn't make it as one of the producers said it didn't belong:

Blofeld in DAF "As La Rochfoucauld observed, 'Humility is the worst form of conceit' "

Wint & Kidd in the funeral parlour - Wint- "Moving"- Kidd "Heart-warming Mr Wint" - Wint "A glowing tribute, Mr Kidd".

LALD - the Harlem taxi driver - and one of Mr Big's henchmen - "For twenty bucks, I'll take you to a Ku Klux Klan cookout!"

Scaramanga "You see Mr Bond, like every great artist, I want to create an indisputable masterpiece once in my lifetime. The death of 007. mano a mano, face to face, will be mine"

Stromberg "I wish to conduct my life on my own terms and in surroundings with which I can identify."

Drax - "Look after Mr Bond. See that some harm comes to him."

Koskov - "I'm sorry James, but we have an old saying 'Duty has no sweethearts'  " (Bond's reply recalls one he used at the lunch table in TMWTGG)

I also like the whole scene at the end of TLD when Whitaker is confronted by Bond whilst playing war games.

Sanchez - "Loyalty is more important to me than money."

Trevelyan (to Bond) "I might as well ask if all those vodka martinis silence the screams of the men you've killed."

Carver "The difference between insanity and genius is measured only by success."

Le Chiffre - "You've changed your shirt Mr Bond. I hope our little game hasn't caused you to perspire."

I agreed about the Dominic Greene line quoted above, and finally

Silva (aka Rodriguez) - the whole of the monologue when he meets Bond, particularly

Silva "The two survivors. This is what she made us" - Bond - "I made my own decisions" - Silva "No, you think you did. That's her genius"

Silva "She sent you here knowing you are not ready, knowing you would likely die. Mommy was very bad."

Silva "England. The empire. MI6. So old fashioned....... you're living in a ruin as well, you just don't know it!"

Well that's enough for now. If I think of any more.... ;)

I like theses

from Fiona Volpe in TB

"But of course, I forgot your ego, Mr. Bond. James Bond, the one where he has to make love to a woman, and she starts to hear heavenly choirs singing. She repents, and turns to the side of right and virtue..."

From Blofeld in NSNA

I only remember it in French but in english, it should be : "on the market of death, SPECTRE is impartial" (if you know the correct version)

From Khan in OP

"Mr Bond if of a rare breed, soon to be extinct"

For me it's the obvious one, "No, Mr Bond, i expect you to die."

For a moment you believe it's a possibility and i think that makes it unique.

My favourite villain, Max Zorin, has some superb lines made even more wicked by Christopher Walken's excellent portrayal and delivery:

"Intuitive improvisation is the secret of genius."

Just sums up every twisted villain perfectly in the Bond series. AND you can't beat Zorin/Walken putting in those little chuckles and laughs - makes it all the more sinister and entertaining.

I like the lines where the villain has Bond where he wants him, that aren't grand lines but , short, effective and to the point.

One of the most harsh dealt to Bond from Dr. No: "I misjudged you, you are nothing but a stupid policeman whose luck has run out."

Blofeld's line in the beginning of FRWL: "Let his death be a particularly unpleasant and humiliating one."

Scaramanga after Bond brings up having six bullets to his one: " I only need one."

In Skyfall after Silva shoots Severine: "I win."

The arrogance and cockiness only make Bond's eventual victories that much sweeter.

I've always loved Blofeld's line in DAF while holding Bond at gunpoint, treating him like a complete fool: "You press 'L', Mr. Bond. The word 'lobby' begins with 'L'." Condescension at its finest.

"No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die!" from Goldfinger is ofcourse the most famous and most fun to quote!

I also like Drax in Moonraker: Look after Mr. Bond and see that some harm comes to him!

But also Stromberg in Spy: Let them get ashore... and then kill them!

Grant to Bond just before the train fight:

"You might know the right wines...but you're the one on your knees."

Silva's "Mommy was very bad".

Mr Big/Kananga: "Names are for tombstones, baby."

Awesome lines across the board, guys! I think I'll also have to add this one from Tomorrow Never Dies:

Eliot Carver: "Mr. Stamper, when you remove Mr. Bond's heart, it should be just enough time for him to watch it stop beating."

Such a cheesy line, but kind of a throwback to those on-the-nose taunts towards Bond. I just love how Jonathan Pryce delivers it, oozing menace and pure villainy.

I love the exchange between Bond and Zorin in View to a Kill:

Bond, "Killing Tibbett was a mistake."
Zorin, "Well I'm about to make the same mistake twice."

Love Walken's delivery of that line in particular; so off the cuff, but you buy it because of Zorin's complete insanity by that point of the film... Such a creep, Zorin.

Another favorite of mine goes to Trevelyan at the end of GoldenEye where Bond and Natalya are captured:

"Oh please, James, spare me your Freud. I might as well ask you if all the martinis silenced the screams of all those men you've killed....or if you find forgiveness in the arms of all those willing women, or all the dead ones you've failed to protect."

I've always found 006 to be an engaging villain, but this line is particularly poetic, given the nature of Bond's work; and who knows Bond best other than the ultimate frenemy 006?

The first screen villain, Dr No, has several other lines besides the one I quoted earlier, even though his screen time is limited. These include;

"SPECTRE. Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. The four great cornerstones of power, headed by the greatest brains in the world."

Bond; "Correction. Criminal brains."

"The successful criminal brain is always superior. It has to be."

"Clumsy effort Mr Bond, you disappoint me.  I'm not a fool so please do not treat me as one. And that table knife, please put it back."

To Bond: "I thought you less stupid. Usually when a man gets in my way" (Crushes table object with steel hand at this point) "But you are different. You've cost me time, money, effort. You've damaged my organisation, and my pride."

"I was curious to see what kind of a man you were, I thought there might be a place for you with SPECTRE....... unfortunately I misjudged you, you are just a stupid policeman, whose luck has run out."

When it came to Bond villainy, and the lines, Dr No (Or rather the screenwriters providing the lines!) was, of course, the template.

Just watched a few LALD film clips on YouTube (just for kicks) and I realized Kananga had some pretty awesome zingers. Apart from the immortalized "Names is for tombstones, baby!":

"Tee Hee.. On the first wrong answer from Ms. Solitaire, you will snip the little finger from Bond's right hand. Starting with the second wrong answer, you will proceed to the more vital areas."

"Drown, Mr. Bond? I doubt you'll get the chance to drown."

"On the contrary, Mr. Bond, I think you'll find these wounds to be quite fatal."

Man, Kananga just oozed cool menace!
