I recently had the good fortune to (kind of) meet Timothy Dalton while writing a preview of his new TV show, Penny Dreadful. You can read all about it here if you like:

It's a tale of hero worship, semi-professional journalism and an unfortunately timed visit to the toilet.

A really funny and thoroughly entertaining story. Well done! Dalton is one of my heroes, too. :)

Did you ask him how old he is/what year he was born? No, sod it. If you do chat with him again please ask him if he's a 1944 or 1946 baby. I say '46.

"Welsh lilt?" I thought it was Manchester/Derbyshire accent. We even have a thread about it.

Derbyshire mostly, I would say. He does speak with a Welsh twang at times, though.

When he says: "Better make that two," for example.

I felt it might be a little impertinent to ask him his age, despite the record needing setting straight. I confined myself to a "happy birthday" and got on with the job I was being paid for!
