http://www.bbc.co.uk...rammes/b042cq8f On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes First broadcast: Saturday 03 May 2014

James Bond seems more interested in gambling at the Casino Royale than tracking down elusive SPECTRE chief Blofeld. Then he meets Tracy, emotionally disturbed daughter of mafia boss Draco.
Now he has a double motive: seek and destroy Blofeld, and prevent Tracy killing herself.

Impersonating a College of Arms official Bond infiltrates Blofeld's Swiss mountain-top lair. He learns that Blofeld and aide Irma Bunt are brainwashing young women. Why? Is biological warfare involved? Backed by 'M' and Draco, Bond mounts an air assault. But can he pin down monstrous Blofeld? And what will happen to Tracy?

Toby Stephens is on top form as 007. A stellar cast includes Joanna Lumley, Alfred Molina, Alex Jennings, Lisa Dillon, John Standing, Janie Dee, Lloyd Owen, Joanna Cassidy, Clare Dunne and Julian Sands, with Jarvis himself as the voice of Fleming.

Specially composed music: Mark Holden and Michael Lopez
Dramatised by Archie Scottney

Director: Martin Jarvis
Producer: Rosalind Ayres
A Jarvis & Ayres Production for BBC Radio 4.

It's available to American listeners on the BBC Radio 4 website, beginning at 9:30 Eastern Time.  I'll be tuned in!

I don't know what the reason was, but my connection failed about 70 minutes into the production, which I thought was a pretty good interpretation, though they padded out the sequence involving Bond's wedding.  I wouldn't have recognized Joanna Lumley had I not known it was her.

I was able to re-establish my feed after about five minutes, but it was very annoying to have this technical problem.  Anyone else have this difficulty?

I'll give it a proper listen in the week; seemed like fun but sadly I know the story pretty well and the previous adaptation improved on the story somewhat (also it's hard not to miss that lovely Barry music). I wish they'd do an adaptation of one which the film deviated from the book more; Moonraker or something.

For those who missed this broadcast, or, like me, had a technical problem, the program is on the BBC Radio 4 website and will remain available for the next seven days.

It was ok but impossible to have the same level of detail that Fleming had and also adding characters from the films into certain scenes that didn't happen in the novel. There was no mention of Mary Goodnight but I suppose they have to cater for those who have only seen the movies.

I really enjoyed it, i thought  they got most of the plot in, considering it was only 1 hour 30 mins. Not quite " a movie for the ears" but still very good can't wait for them to do another one, maybe even an adaption of a john gardener or colonel sun even
