Is the best moment of Moore's whole era, it's just him in the moment without any flamboyance of aplomb, in his most no-nonsense suit . It is a good tussle that just leaves one wanting more...

At the time the Sandor fight impressed me immensely, even more than the train fight with Jaws. However, the fight itself has lost some of its magic for me. The most dramatic moment for me now is the ending, with Moore giving a rare glimpse on the nature of his duty. Moore's fights were often less impressive for the comic closure the writers used to take off the edge, the scissors cutting Tee Hee's prostetic arm, the howling electro-shocked Jaws holding his teeth and falling from the train, the silly goal celebration fanfare during FYEO's hockey fight, that sort of thing. With Sandor there is nothing funny about the end, it's a brutally straight killing after the necessary information is gained from the enemy. One can almost feel Bond's revulsion about having to deal with such people; personally I would rate this moment more cold-blooded than kicking Locque over the cliff.

I'm not sure I agree with that, Dustin, because after he killed Sandor by throwing him from the roof, he has a funny throwaway remark: "What a helpfull chap!", with is very funny and makes it less serious en tense than the Locque scene from Eyes Only.

Sandor's death is a cold kill. Once Bond gets what he needs, it's all over. What I also like about it is Moore's prissy elitism, almost to say "please get your hands off my tie." I don't think Bond's remark afterwards is all that funny, either. It's said in complete disdain, followed by a shot of Sandor's lifeless body.

Milton Reid played Sandor,he also appeared in the1967 Casino Royale and was one of Dr. No's guards who "softened up a bit" beating up Sir Sean in Dr. No.

All above posts demonstrating Sir Roger's acting during scene validates my opinion that SWLM is Sir Roger's best Movie.

If you do a sequence-by-sequence comparison of YOLT and TSWLM, then the the Sandor fight is the equivalent of Sean's fight with Henderson's assassin's driver in Osato's office. "What a helpful chap" is then the equivalent of Sean' "Cheers - Siamese vodka?!"

Just sayin'.

I still believe that scene and remark is just played for laughs and is not said by Moore with any disdain, just like he always does after a suspensfull scene: saying something funny to release the tension for the audience.

Otherwise it would be very strange and not in line with the rest of the movie, which ofcourse is not a very serious one in the series.

I love this fight sequence. Reminds me of the Oddjob vs Bond fight in Fort Knox during 'Goldfinger'.

I think it's the naturalistic aspect of the scene, as in there is no music. It's just two men fighting to survive, you can hear the hits, the crunches and the thuds beside the background of the city.

I personally love the passion Sandor has when he hits and lashes out, he has some great moves!

It's not drawn out, but you can hear every hit and crunch of bone hitting the floor, and the finale is a moment that I think Bond gives himself the crowning win with that line, because there was a time during that fight Sandor looked like he was getting the upper-hand, and so Bond gives himself, and audiences, a reassuring quip after coldly letting him fall to his death.

A brilliant scene.
