This costume was worn by the iconic spy “James Bond” played by actor Pierce Brosnan in the “007” series, “The World is Not Enough”. This complete costume includes a two-piece charcoal wool suit by Brioni with the company’s signature silk lining within the single-breasted jacket, and the care label printed “Bond 3 - Pierce Brosnan”, trousers with turn-ups, as well as a blue cotton shirt and a navy silk tie with brown chevron design both labeled Turnbull & Asser, and a pair of black leather monk-strap shoes by Church's, both inscribed inside in an unknown hand in blue ballpoint pen with wardrobe details (illegible). Purchased in the Christies “50 Years Of James Bond The Auction” and accompanied by a letter from EON Productions.

Mr. Brosnan can be seen wearing this full costume in the opening scene of the film, when James Bond meets with a Swiss banker to retrieve money for an oil tycoon “Sir Robert King”. After the banker threatens Bond, a gunfight ensues and Bond escapes with the money. The tie is seen again paired with a light grey suit, while Bond drives through oil fields in Azerbaijan while heading towards the mountains. He drives up to a construction site for an oil pipeline and meets Elektra King (Sophie Marceau) the daughter of the oil tycoon, and informs her that she is in danger. Bond goes on to explain that he was sent to protect her, but she doesn’t feel the need for his presence until after a snowmobile chase scene where her life is threatened.

“The World is Not Enough” is a 1999 film directed by Michael Apted and stars Pierce Brosnan, Judi Dench, Sophie Marceau, Denise Richards and Robert Carlyle. This was the nineteenth film in the James Bond 007 series, and the film grossed over $361 million dollars. The film’s plot involves a terrorist Renard (Robert Carlyle), and a scheme to raise petroleum prices by activating a nuclear meltdown in the sea near Istanbul. Mr. Brosnan won the Empire Award and the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for his portrayal of the iconic MI6 agent James Bond. This costume is accompanied by a letter of authenticity. It was just posted on www.TheGoldenCloset.com over the weekend and has a current list price of $35k. Shoot an email to [email protected] with any interest, comments, etc.

Those Brioni suits always looked terrific.  Glad I did not notice the buckle shoes at the time, though.  From the books -- though I may be subject to failures of recollection...I think -- I do not think Bond would have worn Buckle Shoes.  Not exactly a big controversy here...just pointing it out.

...Of the person who is listing it, or of the person who might buy it?
