I'm taking a "road trip" to California with a couple of my friends in October.

 

We're spending 4 days in San Francisco, then driving to Yosemite National Park (hopefully, if they get that damn fire under control!) and staying two nights there camping.

 

Providing we aren't burned to death or mauled by the bears in Yosemite, we're driving to Monterey and staying one night there, before driving down the Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Barbara, staying one night there.

 

Then we're off to LA, staying in Santa Monica for 3 nights, then driving to Las Vegas for the final 4 nights.

 

Now, have any of you Yank CBners done this trip before? Any tips and advice to give me about must-sees on the way or anything like that?

I'm gonna bump this, because i know there are a few Americans on here. Would really appreciate your input!

Definitely American but I never made the trip.midwest, northeast, southeast south but never further west than Vegas.

SF to Yosemite and back to Monterey? That's one heck of a detour!  

 

Hearst Castle (Cambria, CA) is worth a look. The mission in Santa Barbara is lovely. As for SF and LA, well there are too many things to do and see to be listed here.

Ha i know right! But we wanted to drive down the PCH so we have no choice really!
