A&E Home Video is re issuing the out of print Emma Peel collection set of The Avengers. There is no information on whether the new remastered versions of the episodes are being used in the announcement..

I am disappointed with the announcement from A&E. It's good to have some of the series in print again here in the US, but using the original transfers from the 90's when there are newly remastered prints that can be used is a disappointing move by A&E Home Video.

I gave up on remastered episodes being released here in the US in January and ordered the outstanding Complete Avengers: 50th Anniversary Edition DVD set. This set includes all of the series in print episodes and have been truly remastered. In addition the set has numerous extras on commentaries as well. Highly Recommended.

You will need a DVD player that is able to play region 2 DVD's. There are a number of US DVD players that can be unlocked to play all regions.

Good stuff; I'm feeling like some Avengers.

Did you know that the missing episodes from Series 1 are being remade in as audio plays? Julian Wadham is the new Steed. Here's a few more details:

Very cool!

They also have some re creations of the lost episodes on the UK 50th anniversary DVD set too.

Hopefully many more of them are eventually found.

I won't be buying any more sets until they're available on Blu-Ray

I will be curious to see if blu ray ever happens for The Avengers and The Saint.

If they are released on blu ray, I think the UK will get them and they will be Region B locked. Just like The Persuaders! set from Network was.

How many times one can release something on dvd and expect fans are gonna buy it again?

I bought 10-13 years ago the first dvd boxsets with Emma Peel and a couple of years ago a box with the complete episodes of The Avengers.

I can't think of any reason to buy it all over again, at least not on dvd.

In A&E's defense the titles have been out of print in the US and they did include new artwork and packaging?

: )

Should be interesting to see which transfers they use for this re issue set.

I'm glad I ordered the Optimum 50th Anniversary set this year.

New art work and packaging is not a reason to buy it again and again!?

And out of print? Maybe, but you can buy it easy on Ebay etc.. and if you realy are a fan you already have at least one version, wouldn't you think?

Well for some new artwork is a reason to buy them again.

Prices on Ebay were / are very high for the oop Emma Peel set. That is why I chose to sell my set earlier this year. Made quite a bit on it and used that $ to purchase the UK 50th anniversary set.

So now I have all of the known episodes as well plus extras, etc.

Oh and I guess I also have new packaging on the 50th anniversary set too. : )
