Think of this very much like a DVD or blu ray scene - a favourite that you might stick on rather than watching the film from the start. For me it's probably Bond meeting up with Domino for the first time through to her leaving for the Disco Volante after their evening dance.

An excellent choice. That sequence really encapsulates classic Bond so well: Connery's Bond in his prime, a beautiful damsel in distress, exotic locations, jet-set crowds, a sinister villain, CIA man wearing his sunglasses at night, John Barry's music, Terence Young's stylish direction, Domino saying "the way you.....hold me".

I love this following sequence from MR: the whole Amazon River boat chase, Bond's hang glider escape, his following the Venini Glass Receptionist in the Jungle, his being lured by her to the pyramid, the entrance of Drax's girls, Bond's falling into the pond and his subsequence fight with the python. All pure cinema, just gorgeous visuals underscored by John Barry's hypnotic music and no words:

Probably my favorite 8 minutes of the entire Roger Moore era.

Brilliant pick PKK. I was going to go with a set from MR as well since it is so fun and care free.

Some others that came to mind... FRWL: 10 minute train segment. The whole train segment probably runs longer, but hopefully a 10 minute span captures Kerim Bey's parts and the dinner with Grant.

TSWLM lotus/chopper chase scene

Casino Royale train scene with Vesper

Living Daylights at the carnival.

PKK's choice is indeed cinema magic, especially in a film that set a new bar for OTT.

The first sequence that comes to my mind is Bond meeting 'the Dove', Milos Columbo - very much like the short story, only with more class (and Topol).

Bond's apologia to Anya over the death of Sergie Borzov, and of course the Lotus chase.

Indeed, the Goldfinger PTS - a mini-mission in itself, as are the PTSs from Thunderball, Octopussy, GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies.

Connery creeping about Palmyra in Thunderball. We need more scenes like that in the future. Bond's climb up the Whyte House runs a close second.

Lazenby in the Casino with Tracy; even Fleming would have found little to criticize. Likewise Blofeld explaining his plan for 'those girls.' Actually, any ten minutes of OHMSS, in any order.

Any ten minutes of Live and Let Die...

Okay, I'd better stop - my fanaticism is showing through...

I'd agree with almost any 10 minute segment from OHMSS and also the "you've had your six" from Dr. No, just classic Fleming-esque Bond. For me the other scenes would probably be TSWLM's PTS, the boat chase from LALD, LTK's truck chase and the final scenes from both Casino Royale and Skyfall. Those films couldn't have had better endings if they tried.

Some cracking choices. A couple of mine that stick out for 10 minute or less scenes are:

'From Russia With Love' - The gypsy camp battle; well set-out, perfect soundtrack and visually exciting to watch

'Goldfinger' - Bond vs Oddjob in Fort Knox. Bone crunchingly brilliant with no need for anything special. Just the bare minimum

'Live And Let Die' - Bond is introduced and then escapes the crocodile farm. Brilliant tension and character interaction

'A View To A Kill' - Bond vs Zorin on the Golden Gate Bridge. Excellent action backed by a perfect soundtrack and performances

'Licence To Kill' - The moment Bond drops onto the first tanker and then the chase. Pure Bond action and amazing visuals and stuntwork

'GoldenEye' - Xenia ambushes Bond  in the jungle. A short sequence, but perfectly shot with sheer brutality and sexual malice

'Die Another Day' - Bond vs Zao on the frozen lake and ice palace.  Frantic,exciting action with some great stunt driving and effects

'Casino Royale' - The isolated poker sequence at the table only. Classic Fleming for a modern Bond. Visually perfect.

'Quantum Of Solace' - The pre-titles. Short and sweet but a breathtaking introduction with excellent stuntwork and a soundtrack

'Skyfall' - The final seconds of the pre-titles, out of the tunnel with Eve ready to shoot. Never a more tense soundtrack and performance.

I think 'Skyfall' is my winner for creating so much emotion and tension with every means they can, from the acting, to location, to camera work, to special effects, to costume and the nail-biting soundtrack. Perfection, followed also by the silhouette battle between Bond and Patrice.

Anyway, I must stop as I'll go on forever!! :D

I actually really like the sequence in A View to a Kill in which Bond is posing as James St. John Smythe at Zorin's party. I tend to shut the film off as soon as Tibbett is killed :)

My pick is the scene at the pyramids in TSWLM. It is the sequence that begins with the speaker voice "You have come tonight to the most fabulous and celebrated place in the world. Here on the plateau of Giza stands forever the mightiest of human achievements", and ends with "Hope you enjoyed the show!".

Really, it is the mightiest of achievements. I love the beautiful photography and the effectual lightning. The way they integrate the speaker voice and the music into the narrative give me chills. You can't really tell if the music is part of the soundtrack or the "live show" and that is what makes it so great. I love how the director introduces the three main characters (007, XXX, Jaws) to each other. They all met outside that gate with some dramatic lightning and music. It is simple but very effective.

It ends with one of the best Moore fights, the audience applauds, and Bond casually adjusts his tie and walks away. This sequence is like a mini-Bond-movie in itself. Film schools should use this as a template.

I started another thread recently, but involving Bond and the villain scenes, and most of those last ten minutes or less, so some of them could be included here again. Here goes:-

DN - Dr No's introduction - "One million dollars, Mr Bond"

FRWL - The mask slips - Captain Nash revealed as Red Grant. Bond in real trouble for once.

GF - Bond's "crown jewels" at risk from Goldfinger's laser beam.

TB - the SPECTRE boardroom scene. Makes clear that in SPECTRE, failure (or embezzlement) is not an option. A scene which, of course, doesn't involve Bond, and neither does this one in

YOLT - the opening scene in outer space. You just know that once that astronaut gets out of his capsule, he's doomed!

OHMSS - the scene that got me into Bond in the first place - the bobsleigh chase between Bond and Blofeld.

DAF - Bond's in this but gets to do little but stand around uselessly, while Blofeld uses the laser satellite to blow up two missile bases and a nuclear submarine. I loved John Barry's music score in this scene.

LALD - Mr Big/Dr Kananga interrogates Bond, and terrifies Solitaire.

TMWTGG - pre title credits. A bizarre Bondian scene where Bond appears only at the end, in dummy form.

TSWLM - We finally find out where those submarines went - USS Wayne gets swallowed up. An effective scene highlighting Ken Adam's design and Marvin Hamlisch's music score.

MR - the centrifuge scene, reminded me of the "rack" scene in TB, and at the end, Bond's gone through hell but still walks away unaided.

FYEO - Bond meets Columbo, and slowly realises he's been going after the wrong "baddie".

OP - Bond confronts Orlov and realises there's a serious nuclear threat on that train. Never has Roger Moore's Bond seemed more outraged at a villain's scheme.

AVTAK - another boardroom scene, where an investor makes a big mistake, "dropping out" of Zorin's scheme.

TLD - two scenes, both adding up to less than ten minutes - Pushkin confronts Whitaker, and the shootout at the end between Whitaker and Bond.

LTK - in a gruesome (by Bond standards) film, it's hard to beat the scenes leading up to Krest's death by decompression chamber.

GE - Bond meets Janus in the statue park, and realises there's something unexpected yet quite familiar about him.

TND - Bond discovers Paris is dead, and meets the unusual Dr Kauffman.

TWINE - Bond's final confrontation with Elektra - "You'd miss me" - "I never miss".

DAD - Gustav Graves' extraordinary arrival at Buckingham Palace (I liked the way "London Calling" was used, segued into the main music score), and Bond's first encounter with Moon as Graves - "Have we met before?"

CR - so much to choose from, but I'll settle for the final scene as Bond towers over a wounded Mr White and, with that theme in the background, says that line.

QoS - A fate worse than death - Greene left in the desert/Bond says goodbye to Camille/Bond confronts Yusuf Kabira, something we've had to wait a whole film for him to do.

SF - again, much to choose from, but for me it's the much commented about introduction of Raoul Silva, one of the best Bond meets villain scenes in the series, imho.

Well, that's my take on it, subject to me changing my mind in the next five minutes!

Perhaps the most essential 10 minutes in the entire series occurs at just over 007 minutes into Dr. No. The club scene, "Bond..James Bond". M's office briefing. Flirtatious dialogue with Moneypenny. Bond enters his flat to find Sylvia Trench waiting for him. In just these few scant scenes, we see a cultural icon being born, fully formed, and the world was forever changed.

There are a lot of great scenes, and every film in the series has at least one. For me, my favorite is the Tosca scene in QOS. From Bonds pursuit of Greene to getting the other members of Quantum to reveal themselves, and then the intercutting between the opera and Bond being chased as he makes his escape. Good stuff.

For me in For your eyes only the raid at the Loques dock and after the explosion, watching Bond running to catch Loques in his Mercedes. Roger as Bond shooting and kicking the car off the clif.

Some off the top of my head (sorry they're not in chronological order) -

MR - PTS scene (before it gets too comical with Jaws flapping his arms and falling into the net in the circus).  Maybe it's because it was my first scene I ever saw of a 007 film, but Moore looking like he was flying was cool as hell! (At least to an 11 year old).  Also, Corrine's death by Drax's Dobermans is pretty memorable.

TND - The fight behind the sound-proof window in Carver's Hamburg building.  Also, the way M responds to Adm. Roebuck by saying, "His job." in the PTS.

OHMSS - Of course, the 'escape from Piz Gloria' ski scene.  But also the scene the morning after Bond and Tracy spend the night in the barn.  As they're casually skiing away, Blofeld and his goons suddenly sneak up on them, skiing in single-file (shades of the helicopters sneaking up on Little Nellie in YOLT.)

GF - PTS + the opening credits!  Between 007 seeing his would-be attacker in the reflection of his woman's eye and Shirley Bassie's song, the audience just knows its in for a good time.

LALD - When the cabbie takes 007 to Harlem and it seems as if everyone is on Mr. Big's payroll.  As many spies Mr. Big has , 007 might as well been in Cold War East Germany!  Also, I always get a kick out of the scene how Kananga and his entourage feel compelled to don 1970's-style 'pimp' outfits after they turn on the tape recording of him dictating a future speech - makes me laugh every time!

TB - Wen, while on the run from Volpe and her SPECTRE goons during the Junkanoo, 007 slips into the outdoor night club.  Connery displays a certain amount of desperation and charm in that scene when he asks the girl to dance (or puts an innocent women potentially in harms way just to provide him with cover!!) that is truly impressive.

CR - During the snake/mongoose fight, when Mollaka gets wise that he's under surveillance, there's a brief scene where Craig, on the deck above, remains at a standstill until he's out of the fleeing Mollaka's sight before giving pursuit.  That's some badass attention-to-detail from the director.

LTK - PTS, during the firefight at the runway when Dalton emerges from the bottom the movie screen.

QOS - The fight/escape out of the Tosca venue, when there's only the sound of the opera playing.

FYEO - The beginning of the PTS where Bond is visiting Tracy's grave.  As a fan, I applaud/encourage the continuity.  Also, the tense moment when Bond realizes that he's cornered while he's in line at the ski jump.

YOLT - The bird's-eye view of the rooftop fight at the building at the Kobe docks.  IMO, this is the inspiration for the fights in the above-mentioned TND and QOS.

TLD - Hands down - the confrontation between Bond and Pushkin.  Honorable mention: (just because it's sort of rare to give a henchman so much screen-time, especially in a "first" movie for a new 007 actor), the "milkman scene at the safe house" where Necros launches his one-man attack on the MI6 safe-house.

TMWTGG - When Bond wakes up in the karate school and is forced to fight.  The way he handles his opponent reminds me of the way Indiana Jones dealt with the sabre-welding villain in the bazaar.  I view this scene as a response to the critics that LALD was riding on the coat-tails of the Blaxploitation craze of the time. Having 007 easily (and arguably - dishonorably) dispatch his opponent so easily telegraphed a subtle message from the movie producers to the audience that, "Although it might seem as if we're riding on the current popularity of the karate-film craze, we're the caretakers of the 007 franchise and we're going to show you that we're still 'top dog.'  (Apparently, the (subliminal) message was well received at the time because five years later, the producers didn't have the same inferiority complex when it came to riding on the Star Wars craze with MR.)

DN - Bond's unemotional killing of Professor Dent in Miss Taro's bedroom.  Say what you want about the whole "Bond, James Bond" casino scene at the beginning of the movie, this is the scene where we really see our beloved literary character come to life!

FRWL - Klebb's inspection of the SPECTRE training grounds.  It really sets up the whole notion that 007 is up against a well-organized enemy.

NSNA - The look on Connery's face at the end of the Shrublands fight when reads the label and  realizes he's hurled a beaker of his own urine into the face of his would-be assassin.  For the first time during the film, I felt I was watching a "classic Connery" 007 film.  (Too bad that feeling didn't last)

AVTAK - When Zorin guns down his employees in the mine.  Not so much a "007" moment, but I just love the look on his face.  Although AVTAK is hardly my favorite movie, I'll give credit to Christopher Walken for playing Zorin as "over-the-top" as any previously 007 villain before or since.  On that note, the look on his face when he's looking at his computer screen and learns that he's got the deadly 007 in his office is just priceless.

TSWLM - The PTS (except for the nod-to-the-casual-fan's Union Jack parachute, as well as 007's channeling Dudley Dooright as he leaves the log cabin.  Sorry, but this is the inspiration for the Beach Boys in AVTAK, the Magnificent Seven soundtrack in MR, etc.)

TWINE - The Swiss part of the PTS.  Thinking on his feet, using whatever is available to escape the situation.. love it!

DAF - The elevator fight, beginning with 007 standing outside Tiffany's apartment building, 'hugging himself.' (Minus the 'reveal' that 007 is 'world-famous' - ugh!)

GE - The end of the PTS.  The look of puzzlement on Col. Ourumov's face as 007 races the motorcycle to the end of the runway is classic and is shared by the movie-going audience. What the hell is about to do?!?

CR (1967) - David Niven vs. the remote-control milk truck.  The "Little French Boy" soundtrack complements the weirdness of the scene.  Also, any scene with the smoking-hot Daliah Lavi!

OP - The scene inside the big-top where 007 desperately tries to break free in order to defuse the bomb.  Despite the fact he's dressed like a clown (somehow that works for me) it is a truly tense scene in an otherwise light-hearted film.

And finally, SF.  The end scene where Craig enters M's "classic" office.  Honestly, I've never left a theater wanting to see the next 007 movie any more that the end of SF!  I can't wait until Bond 24!!!

(Oops!  I forgot DAD.  Umm, I guess my favorite scene would be the final frame of that that piece of crap!  What an unceremonious and embarrassing end to Brosnan's otherwise-respectable tenure as 007!)

Some of my other favorite scenes involve mood and class, such as:

Colonel Smithers' briefing on Goldfinger's activities;

Bond 'mountaineering about outside the Whyte House';

Scaramanga's departure by junk while Bond was being delivered to the capsized QE;

Champagne with Magda poolside under the fairy-lights;

Bond and Kara at the opera and Prater Park;

Bond meets Xenia in the Monte Carlo casino;

Bond and Vesper 'sizing' each other up on the train to Montenegro

Bond meets Severine in the Floating Dragon Casino...

You get the picture.
