A statistics student of mine brought this to my attention:

Here's the link:

Skyfall's was 14 seconds, not counting the 50th anniversary logo.  Each actor's average decreases and Craig's average from QoS and SF is 12 seconds, which continues the downward trend.

With all the debate over whether it's in the front or the back, did anyone else notice the sequence itself is shrinking in duration?

I especially noticed it with the Craig era, the quick pace of the gunbarrel to me seemed to just use it because of what it is, and throw it in there. Far too fast for me. It's not something to just throw away with loud, quick Bond music over it.

20-25 seconds, seems perfect for me. They took their time, had a well paced walk, a brilliant use of the chosen theme to add tension/excitement and then BAM...fade out. Nothing rushed or loud. And with Craig's 'Skyfall' - NEVER use the main burst of the Bond theme to start the gunbarrel, it detracts the moment he fires and it plays out IMO.

Interesting chart...

I've noticed that myself. 20-25 seconds seems like a good round number to me. I understand that things and ideas change, but this is a staple of the Bond series for 50 years. Fans love it and expect it. I can't imagine it would take that much away from the movie having a proper gun barrel sequence.
