Whether he's driving his Lotus Esprit S1 into the water off the coast of Sardinia or emerging out of the ocean in La Perla swimming trunks in the Bahamas, Bond is no stranger to tropical tides. So it comes as no surprise that the spy's latest fragrance takes inspiration from the sun-drenched seas surrounding the Carribean. With fresh top notes of lime, aniseed and bergamot, Ocean Royale's masculine undercurrent is anchored with a base of teak and cedar woods, tonka bean and Jamaican coffee. Light and versatile, our only criticism is that the bottle doesn't convert into submarine.

Available now exclusively at Harrods. £32 for 75ml. harrods.com

Shaken that we're stirred New Bond fragrance seduces us like a true 007

We didn't cover the first release of this. It grated us - rightly or wrongly - as a publicity dash for cash. But we'll also be the first to admit when we've been snobby and, perhaps, wrong. Opinions are like a warped combination of superglue and putty, fast to set whilst ironically maintaining a measure of pliability. If you're like us and the opportunity arises to improve one of yours - it should be embraced.

So when the update to the record selling 007 fragrance, Ocean Royale, rolled into Cloud HQ, we sniffed for three days as though dumbstruck. It's not just competent, it's down right lovely.

With a punch of bergamot and seaweed, complimented by a woody cedar and sandalwood, the accords fit seamlessly together as an aquatic ensemble. The complete fragrance is certainly not the cheesy white-label dash for cash we may have previously considered it. Perhaps we prefer Bond in blue?

Designed to reflect the Caribbean jet-setting nature of 007, the fragrance whisks you away to an aquatic spring and summer. Perfect for those holidays, day trips out at the weekend or splashed on ahead of twilight drinks, the Ocean Royale evolution offers you an array of choice.

But we still maintain some critiques. The marriage of both James Bond and 007 on the box: We'd have preferred just 007 - it's not as if it isn't immediately identifiable. Secondly, whilst the accords rapidly evolve, they don't linger for as long as one might like. You'll need to slap on more to keep the olfactory shield from failing. That said, a solid and surprising thumbs up from us.
