As has been pointed out in another thread, this year marks seven years since Daniel Craig's first Bond movie (2006-2013), thus equalling Pierce Brosnan's stint (1995-2002).

Therefore, the poll question is thus: if we could only have one of those seven-year terms, would you keep Brosnan's four movies or Craig's three?

I have a sneaky suspicion which way the vote will go, but I'll be interested to see the numbers.

Note to Mods:

I can't appear to add a poll. Could someone please drop one in please? Options should be:

  • Brosnan (GoldenEye / Tomorrow Never Dies / The World Is Not Enough / Die Another Day)
  • Craig (Casino Royale / Quantum of Solace / Skyfall)

Thanks!

Craig's.

I'm probably alone on this.

No question.  Craig's three.

After giving it some serious thought, the choice is more difficult than I would have initially thought.  I'll take Craig's three, but like Brosnan's tenure, the quality of Craig's films has been rather inconsistent as well.

I give my vote for Craig. His films have been consistent (yes, even 'QOS) with theme and stood well with fans and critics.

Brosnan started great with 'GoldenEye' but they started to go down with typical Bond elements that didn't break the mould towards the end before it lost its way.

Kind of a biased question right now, since the anti-Brosnan feelings are pretty dominant and the Craig movies really brought something new to the table.

A more interesting question would be deciding between Craig and Dalton. Or Moore and Brosnan.

Craig. I do like Brosnan as Bond, though. His first two were his best, but I don't think they reach the heights of Casino Royale and Skyfall - which I rank among the series' finest.

I know this places me in the minority, but this is a difficult choice for me.

I only care for Brosnan's first two films and the bookends of Craig's. Perhaps I should consider the fact that it may have taken me much longer to discover Bond if my father had not twice taken me as a seven year-old to see Goldeneye in the theater. It certainly left an impression. While Tomorrow Never Dies is a Bond film I very much enjoy, I can say that both Casino Royale and Skyfall are Bond films I would have to rank slightly higher. Ranking Goldeneye against any of Craig's single films would still lead me to side with Goldeneye. However, both Casino Royale and Skyfall against Goldeneye clearly turns the tables.

Based on the films alone, I will have to side with Craig's run.

I can't really answer that. Without Brosnan's films I wouldn't have become a fan at a young age or maybe even at all. Despite his tenure's short-comings, his films would be impossible to replace. I love GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies. TWINE and DAD are average Bond films at best though.

On the flip side, Casino Royale and SkyFall are two of the series very best. Nobody looks good against that except maybe Connery who at this point has more films to sample.

Quantum of Solace is forgettable though. Not well put together and quite generic, at least all Brosnan's films were clearly Bond.

Brosnan's. They're the films that got me into Bond, and my favorite, GoldenEye, is among them. Plus I just prefer Brosnan as Bond to all others. Of the Craig films, I'd be most sad to lose Casino Royale, as I find it brilliant. But there's something about watching Brosnan's films that takes me back to when I was younger.

I'll have to go with Pierce Brosnan's tenure. He has two great films--GoldenEye and Tomorrow Never Dies--while Daniel Craig has one--Casino Royale (Skyfall I'd classify as really good but not great). I also slightly prefer Brosnan's two over Craig's Casino Royale. Similarly, Brosnan's other two films--The World Is Not Enough and Die Another Day--while only average Bond movies, I find preferable to Craig's Quantum Of Solace which has too many glaring negative issues (shaky cam, super-quick editing, treatment of Mathis' body, et al) to help the Craig cause. Additionally, I prefer Brosnan as 007 to Craig. As a result, while I'd greatly miss Casino Royale and to a lesser extent Skyfall, I have to go with Brosnan's seven-year run.

I'm gonna go with Craig.  As much as I defend Brosnan at times, I'd rather do without his four films than Craig's three.  Plus, not missing out on any Fleming with this choice.

Craig, just.

Both have made rubbish i.e. DAD and QOS but in my opinions Craigs better films outperform Brosnan's.

Craig's but it would be a shame to lost Goldeneye and there are sections of the other Brosnan films that are excellent, especially the Thames boat chase in TWINE.

Thames boast chase and Bond getting captured are major highlights of the Brosnan films. As well as the scene when he kills Dr. Kaufman. If they just continued the serious tone of GoldenEye (easily could have been a Dalton film) his films could have been a lot better. Instead they got insecure and decided to camp them the heck up. Brosnan deserved better. Unfortunately they couldn't go anywhere after DAD.

For me this is a no brainer; I really like Brosnan, but none of his films hit my top 10 Bond movies, in fact i'm not even sure if any are in my top 15 and, altho I know it;s well liked around here, I think Goldeneye is one of the weakest of the whole series...

While Craig has 2 movies that are in (or close) to my top 10 and one that ranks right along Brosnan's.

The only Broz film i'd miss would be TND.

I am a fan of both the serious spy Bond and the outlandish "stop the megalomaniac bent of world domination" Bond.  As long as the ride is well written, well-acted, and fun, I can swing both ways.

While I enjoy Goldeneye on some levels, it's the only one of Brosnan's films that I can even re-watch anymore.  I have tried and can't even bear to have his other films on as background noise when they are on TV.  I find them pedestrian and completely lacking in imagination or ingenuity.  Workman-like in all respects.

So, for me, Craig wins this one hands down.  While I admit that Quantum of Solace has many problems, I still rank it higher than any of Brosnan's.  I can understand people being introduced to Bond having a connection to him.  I expected him to really grow into the role after GE, and looked forward to each of his following films, but found each successive one to slip further and further away into mediocrity.

I refuse to vote! You can't do this, it's too difficult. Whilst I think Craig has the strongest era of the two, I think Brosnan as Bond was fantastic when I was a kid. I wouldn't swap them feels for anything!
