Incredibly, 2013 is the year that sees Daniel Craig matching Pierce Brosnan's seven year tenure as James Bond.

That was fast, man.  What a shame we only got three movies out of it.

Goodness me...November 2013 will be his 00-7 year run, and like you say it's such a shame we have just 3 films BUT I have to say the 3 we have got are brilliant. Yes, 'QOS' is the weakest of the three, but launching with 'CR' and ending with 'SF', this is a pretty darn good trilogy, but we always would have liked one more.

An exciting future awaits Craig I think in the role, but as you look at Moore's 12 year run with 7 films, can Craig knock out 4 films in 5 years? Not likely. Let's I hope his run gives him a good number of films to bow out on. I'd love him to match Connery at least with the 6.

You're right about Quantum Of Solace.  Bond fans do an unusual amount of moaning about certain films, but I can't be doing with that.  Quantum Of Solace might have been slight, but it was still cracking.  I mean, it's a James Bond movie, for Cliff's sake, not Dostoevsky!  It had Daniel Craig beating people up and an airplane chase ... what more do you want!

Anyway, not every Bond movie can be a classic.  There has to be a bit of ebb and flow.  Even the poorer ones are still great because it's Bond, man!

I hope he makes another two or three, tops, and then quits while he's ahead.  The last thing the Bond movies need is for its audience to start get tired of it.  Craig is still an electric, exciting presence, and the moment it stops feeling that way he should get out.

And I think he has the sense to do that, he seems to know his boundaries, his limits and when things start losing that spark, I think he'll want to go out on a high and allow new blood to inject the series, which is good to know he's not as yet bitter with anything or in any disputes, and his films are doing so well.

Hopefully he'll leave with more grace and favour than Brosnan did in the early 00s.

We could have gotten another Bond film if it weren't for MGM going bankrupt. Would Skyfall have been as good? Better? We will never know.

Realistically, I think Craig has two more films in him if EON/MGM can get the films out in decent time. I think Craig will be too old by the time a sixth film were to come about. Hopefully, his last couple films can match Casino Royale and SkyFall. QoS was a good action movie, but pretty forgettable as a Bond film.

Ben Winshaw seemed to indicate recently suggested that MGM and EoN have signed on Daniel Craig for 3 more films, not 2, and at film every two years that would only put him at 49/50 by the end of his era...roughly the same age as Pierce in Die Another Day and still quite abit younger than Moore in his final few films.

I don't think Daniel should age dramatically over these next few films (they deliberately aged him slightly in Skyfall with the shorter haircut and some makeup in order to emphasize the 'over the hill' Bond angle, so if they need to they can use makeup to help disguise any obvious signs of aging, and he will very likely remain in good physical condition for the remainder of his films) and 5/6 years left for Craig doesn't seem like too much of a stretch...if there are any delays in the planned two year schedule I think the odds of him staying on for 3 films slims drops slightly, but 2018 seems like a fairly likely end date for the Craig-era at this point.

If Craig keeps up with his exercise regime he easily has 3 more films in him, even if there is 3 year gap between each. Hell, Sylvester Stallone is way over 60's in The Expendables for instance and he's still believable as an action star- sure, some plastic surgery has played part but still, he's over 20 years older than Craig and in the game.

Actually Stallone's plastic face is now what I think works against him. I can believe in a tough-as-nails mercenary in his sixties on steroids, but I have trouble believing in a vain mercenary. The lines are what makes such characters credible IMO.

As I've said before I would still be fine with M.G.Wilson's comments about getting Craig on board for 8 films the next 5 every 2 years, but I understand that may not happen or he may make it to the 60th anniversary but with less films in between.

Craig turns 45 today.  To put that in perspective, Brosnan turned 45 sometime in between TND and TWINE.
