Deadline confirms it at the Art Directors Guild Awards as Gassner wins for Skyfall

Earlier in the evening, the Bond franchise’s production gurus Gassner, Ken Adam, Peter Lamont, and Allan Cameron were honored with the guild’s Cinematic Imagery Award, recognizing the longest-running franchise in film history for its visionary and innovative design. Gassner called the franchise “the greatest privilege of my life and career”. The only person to take the stage twice tonight, he joined the Bond team as production designer on Quantum Of Solace andSkyfall and is working on the next Daniel Craig-starring sequel, Bond 24. “It’s a joy to be able to work with such good people,” he said from the podium after winning the final award of the night, “because it’s such hard work.

Possibly due to the fact I read this standing at a draughty Vauxhall station (fancy that!), but just got shivers reading this. I became a big Dennis Gassner fan from the moment I saw his videoblog. His enthusiasm is infectious, and he also produced some stunning sets - in both SKYFALL and QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Brilliant news, which could only be topped by the return of Roger Deakins. Great spot, Shrubs.

My thoughts too Vaux, Gassner has been a great addition to the team and his work on Skyfall was fantastic. His Production Design video blog was my favourite for many, many reasons.

Now to get Roger Deakins onboard...

Great news!

Just waiting for confirmation on Deakins now! I'm pretty confident we'll have the whole team back for Bond 24...

Terrific news. I warmed to Gassner right away. An exceptional choice after Peter Lamont retired. His work is excellent and seems really enthused about the franchise which definitely translates to his work. Can't complain about having him back!

Exciting news. Mendes said a lot depended on how the film was received, and we all know it was a massive success. So indeed, a Mendes return seems likely, and with him would come Newman as well. Craig wants Adele back too.

 Craig wants Adele back too.

I am 100% certain that she will return to sing the theme for Bond 24. I think everyone was slightly taken aback at how success the film was, how all the elements clicked in place; they are going to try and replicate the same success with the same people, I am sure of it.

Adele will sing another belter, Deakins will provide the pretty pictures and Mendes will direct the magnificent Craig and pull the strings as puppet master and overlord once again.

I can feel it!

I'm not so certain about Adele, but I have firm expectations that we'll soon see Deakins, Newman and Mendes join Gassner and Logan. Fingers crossed anyway.

To us Bond fans it may not seem like that long, but it's interesting to remember the last time a director did two consecutive films in a row was over 20 years ago.
