Announcing the launch of a not-for-profit website exclusively devoted to international 007 home-video sleeve/slipcover art: www.homevideo.com.
Featuring several-hundred examples of Bond video art across multiple consumer-video formats such as VHS/Betamax/V2000, LaserDisc, CED, VHD, VCD, DIVX, Video8, DVD and Blu-ray, this new fan-produced endeavour is unique among 007-related websites. Bond debuted on home-video in 1981 yet until now this area of 007 appreciation has been overlooked both as one worthy of discussion and one of collectability. While there is indeed duplication of 'key' art and generic design elements across international markets, it is nevertheless true that an abundance of variation exists within the home-video art experience (especially, and essentially, between 1981 and 1996 i.e. prior to the implementation of globally-standardised key-art and layout design).
Although an impressive archive is currently on display, there is still much that is missing; but the archive will expand in the coming months with the addition of submissions from visitors to the site, as well as publication, from my personal collection, of peripheral materials such as scans of inserts, booklets, discs, boxset imagery, et al.
As with all of my previous web-endeavours, 007homevideo.com is ad-free (and always will be).
Hope you enjoy the site.
