If you've any interest in having the complete game now might be the time to get it in case the situation changes again.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was almost one of the ones who lost out on downloading the Skyfall levels (even though from what I read there is nothing to be worried about). Phew!

So you don't have to buy it, it just comes with 007 Legends?

Basically, I didn't even buy the game and could access it. I rented it from gamefly.

You don't need to own the game at all to download the DLC.
Go to the PSN and find the placemarker for "007 Legends" in the Games section.
You can do this easily by searching for '007' or arranging to view games alphbetically. Alphabetically, "007 Legends" will be the first game shown because of it's use of numerals in the title.
Ignore that the placemarker says 'Disc Only' and click on it. The 'Disk Only' just means that the main game is not available for download (as it was previously).
After clicking on the placemarker you should easily see the option for the Skyfall DLC. It is free.
I recommend that you complete the download to your machine. In other words don't just 'purchase' the free DLC and think to download it at a later date.
This is because if it gets removed again then even though you have 'purchased' it, it will unavailable to download.
I suspect that if it's gone a second time, it will be gone for good.
After all Activision have little incentive to keep this DLC on the PSN now that they aren't making Bond games, or even promoting "007 Legends" anymore it would seem.

^ I don't know. I purchased Totemball, then downloaded it, then deleted it. They removed it from the marketplace, yet I still am able to download it.

It's not even worth worrying about to download - it does no justice to 'Skyfall' or the game. Shame.

I sit corrected Walecs. It could still be available to those who've purchased it even after removal from the PSN if it's still in your download list.
Exactly.
