A snub for future director rumours, here with BBC reporting on Danny Boyle, who orchestrated the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony, and the Bond and Queen sketch.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...t-arts-20676933

Film-maker Danny Boyle has dismissed speculation that he could direct a James Bond film after the appearance of 007 in his Olympic opening ceremony.

James Bond actor Daniel Craig filmed a segment with The Queen for the ceremony, which Boyle co-ordinated.

But asked on BBC Radio 4's Front Row whether he could direct a full-length Bond movie, Boyle replied: "No, I'm not very good with huge amounts of money."

He was speaking in Salford as he turned on a neon artwork he had designed.

Front Row asked him to choose a word to be lit in neon on top of the BBC's Salford's MediaCityUK complex. Boyle chose the word "wonder" after Isles of Wonder, the title of the opening ceremony.

Boyle told interviewer Mark Lawson that his experience of directing The Beach, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, had put him off making movies with big budgets.

"Don't trust me with huge amounts of money anybody," he said. "I did a film, The Beach, which was a proper Hollywood scale budget and it didn't suit me.

"Certain people can handle that and I love watching those kinds of films, but I'm much better with a smaller amount of money and trying to make it go a long way."

Speculation about a future Bond film surfaced after Boyle pulled off a coup by persuading The Queen to act with Daniel Craig in one of the highlights of the opening ceremony.

Boyle's previous films include Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire and he is currently editing his next production, Trance, a thriller starring James McAvoy, which is due to be released next spring.

I think a Bond film would be too big for him, he is more down the low-budget, yet very deep and thoughtful films rather than a big summer blockbuster like Bond.

The possibility of Danny Boyle directing a James Bond movie is seriously scary. No more needs to be said upon that topic!

Good, let him sign a contract legally prohibiting him from directing a Bond movie.

Why is Boyle so unsuitable for Bond? Shallow Grave, 28 Days Later, and Sunshine are all thrillers that deliver atmosphere, tension, and strong performances from the lead.

Considering some of the directors that have helmed a Bond, I'm not sure why an Oscar-winner with Boyle's resume would be such a bad move.

He doesn't have a big vision, his films are always feel small, even when set in space.

Tarantino has also ruled out directing a Bond film.

That's a relief, I want QT nowhere near the Bond films.

I think Boyle is a great director but I do not believe he loves Bond enough to direct a particularly good Bond film. Mendes is clearly a huge fan, which contributed to the success of Skyfall. Martin Campbell is also clearly a fan who understands the character and his world, his fondness evident in every fiber of the two films he helmed. As for Tarantino, he can just stay the hell away. Always was and always will be a terrible idea.

Exactly, I don't think I could stomach a Kill Bill version of Bond.

I can do without any more strobing corgis.

Boyle's weakest films are The Beach and Sunshine. They're good by other director's, but poor compared to Trainspotting and Slumdog

I might've liked to have seen his version of Bond, anyhow, until i saw the strobing corgis....No thanks.

If Tarantino comes near Bond any time in the future, which I doubt he will anyway, but if he does,  then "I'm out."

Hopefully there will be another interview with Christopher Nolan ruling himself out as well.

Tarantino isn't a member of the directors guild, so wouldn't be asked even if he wanted to be. And how is the above story about Boyle a "snub" - the man's just being honest about where his talents lie as he see's them and respect to him for not just following a pay-cheque.

As for Nolan, they've already cloned his style with this current offering - why would they then need to hire the genuine article now? The haters on here really do make me laugh...

And hopefully it will be because Sam Mendes has confirmed he's returning.

I'd love to see Mendes return after knocking this one out of the park. If not though, Nolan would be an exciting prospect.

In the spirit of the SKYFALL pre-production rumours, I am now awaiting the confirmation of Danny Boyle as director of BOND 24. ;)
