This discussion doesn't seem too different from the one that was ongoing in the Craig forum about how he "Isn't quite Bond yet."

My answer here is the same as it will be here: Craig has already made three traditional Bond films. It all depends on what you want out of a Bond film I suppose; my ideal Bond film is a film about a man named James Bond who battles larger than life threats. So far with Craig's three films I've gotten that, so I'm happy. Skyfall brought back the humor, and more of the traditional staples, to me it's the most Bondiest film of all three (whatever that means).

I do gotta wonder though if some of you would even be having this discussion if the gunbarrel was at the beginning of the film ;)

In Never Say Never Again, Bond is sent to a clinic and declared not fit for service. In Casino Royale '67 he lives in a castled, has been knighted and has to return to duty. He faces "larger than life threats" in those films too.

I think you hit enter too soon, for you seem to have left your point out of that post.

I think people have watched too many superhero movies and assume that any character development or any character arc is for the sake of moving towards "the character we know", some static, unchanging figure. I've never seen Bond's character development in the past three films as anything more than exploring the character a little more deeply, seeing what makes him tick and making him a slightly more complex character.

Agreed.

This Bond began anew in Casino Royal.  We watched him develop in Quantum Of Solace.  And, mature in Skyfall.  It is a completely new Bond, and he is moving on, older, wiser, and more prepared.

From one who watched FRWL in the cinema as a child, I am pleased with the way EON has renewed the franchise.

Moving on....

I think the end of Skyfall pretty much points to Craig having been integrated into the traditional series.
