Kind of "biting the hands that feeds", Mr Stephens?

I can't face Toby Stephens appearing in another Bond film, either.
Beat me to it.

I can't face Toby Stephens appearing in another Bond film, either.
But he ain't too bad as Bond in those BBC radio play adaptations.

Yet he was cast for one of the Audiobooks didn't he?
He was indeed, and I also believe he played Bond in a BBC radio play - can't remember which novel adaptation it was right now, though.

He played Bond in DN, GF and FRWL and read the audio books CB and FRWL.

Sheesh, lighten up.
Toby Stephens says he can't face appearing in another Bond film...
...so what's the big deal?
He says the roles do not test acting abilities. Okay, no secret there.
How do we know this wasn't a small part of the interview that the reporter decided to play up? How do we know the reporter didn't manipulate Stephens, or take his words out of context?
Don't understand why fandom always takes any perceived slight as an attack on their own self-worth.

With what he's done with Bond since DAD it looks like he likes the character. He perhaps just doesn't want to get stuck playing villains in action movies.

I didn't mind his performance at all. He looked like a lost-to-reality megalomaniac living on months (or years?) of artificial sleep to me, wild-eyed and fueled with an unnatural energy.
The whole space suit thing wasn't his fault.

I enjoyed him, though part of me thinks they should have just cast Rik Mayall and had done with it.

Well, Gustav Graves was certainly a one-dimensional cartoon character, but I'm still not sure I understand Toby's problem here.
If someone came to me and said, "We want to pay you ridiculous money for a job that requires very little effort on your part," I think I'd be okay with that.

I’m sure there was a bandwidth setting knob somewhere on that spacesuit. He just needed to ask someone from costume design to show him how to turn it up.

He says the role doesn't test actors. Well Graves maybe not, but Silva was complex enough. Would a character like that entice Stephens. Granted, I wouldn't want him again, just saying.

Wasn't impressed. Too much of a Rik Mayall type to convince me as Bond.
Edit: Safari Suit beat me too it (kinda).

If his role had of been a bit more toned down, I think he could have been really good.
Oddly enough, I could have imagined him being good as 006 in Goldeneye, though he would have probably
been a bit too young for that role.
Another wasted opportunity in Die Another Day.......

Wait, wait...was he actually considered a serious contendor to take over after Craig? I don't buy that.

Wait, he was Maggie Smith's son?

Definitely this.

It would have been so much better, had he been his own villain, and not...........what was the other villains name at the start?

Why should he, his character is dead.

I think it would have been better if he wasn't originally korean and now he is british.. um unbelievable much?

This reaks of taken out of context. He wouldn't be doing Bond audiobooks not to mention the 3 radio 4 plays if he didn't like Bond on some level.

I agree. He also did some readings from Fleming at The tribute to Ian Fleming at the Palladium in 2008. Papers love to dress these things up.This reaks of taken out of context. He wouldn't be doing Bond audiobooks not to mention the 3 radio 4 plays if he didn't like Bond on some level.

His character in DAD was terrible. Zao was a much better villain, but played second fiddle. No big loss either way, true or not.
