Inspired by a mention of the smart place name locators in QUANTUM OF SOLACE, I'm starting a new thread on this all-important topic. I thought the ones used in SKYFALL were slightly random:
- London MI6
- Shanghai
- Macau

The first of those is obvious, and the latter two were referenced shortly before in dialogue and on the casino chip. Locators for Istanbul, and particularly Glencoe (given its link to Fleming), would have made the process more consistent. Failing that, maybe just leave them all out.

And to answer the inevitable "does it really matter?", my answer is "not in the least". :)

Where did those three appear? I can't remember.

Over the establishing shots for each of the three respective locations. They were simple bits of white text at the bottom of the screen, rather than anything particularly flashy.

I noticed them - I didn't mind them but I did miss one from Istanbul. I thought it would have worked as he left the apartment, so everyone knew where he was, as there was no knowledge he was there unless you had followed a lot of production and knew your stuff / geography.

I can forgive Scotland due to the fact it was pretty obvious on the computer screen in MI6 v.2 when Q and Tanner were dropping breadcrumbs where Bond was, so I'll let that one go.

If anything, they were far more simple and Bond-esque than the fancy ones in 'QOS', which actually I felt there were too many of them! He was travelling all over the place!

What was the location of where Bond was 'hiding out' when he was presumed dead?

Generic seaside town on the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

Can't believe I didn't even think of that...
