Ah yes. I was kind of expecting Skyfall to be linked with Silva and M's betrayal in someway. To try and uncover any concealed childhood trauma. It seemed to work too!

Nicely done, Mr Mendes, you got us talking!

That's what I always thought that bit from the trailers meant, actually. We could hardly infer that it rather mean't "I'm done with this evaluation".

Yes, guess my guess was right from the get go. Comes with the territory, occupacional hazard as you´d say

Just more depth to the trauma and harsh childhood Bond faced growing up. As we hear him say, he never liked that place much anyway, as it burns to the ground!
A well shot sequence, very witty, and well acted.

Actually, I guess the teaser / trailer scene was intended as a red herring for us fans. It was only natural, with this question and the subsequent reaction, to suppose that "Skyfall" was a mission, something that could be "done". We could hardly infer that it rather mean't "I'm done with this evaluation".

Same here, that was my guess. Oh well. A nice red herring, as you say.

Similar to early hints of M having been in charge of station H.

I thought it's why Bond asked M is there was anything else she wanted to tell him in the briefing: that Skyfall had greater relevance. I'm not really sure why he said that now.

When Bond asks if M had anything else to say, it was because Silva had planted the idea that he had been lied to by M, and he wanted to see if she would come clean about anything.

I always assumed that, too. The place did hold trauma for Bond, going on Kincade's background information. Cutting the word association session short, saying he didn't like the place much anyway before setting off the explosion - Bond isn't excessively sentimental, but I did like his one last look around there. That's what I always thought that bit from the trailers meant, actually. We could hardly infer that it rather mean't "I'm done with this evaluation".
The “M” – “bitch” retort drew a good laugh. Around this section I also liked the retraining trials, Bond exercising with Tanner giving him background information at the same time. Especially once Tanner leaves and Bond hits the floor, having held in his pain. It humanised the character but also kept him strong, the whole never let them see you bleed angle.

I thought the word 'Skyfall' was also in relation to an operation - but it doesn't seem so.
Perhap's that's why the film has been stupidly called "Operation Skyfall" in Latin America and Brazil.

Good point Nicolas, it's a very misleading title to use for you, seeing as there is no operation involved!
At first I even tought that Bond maybe did the same his creator did with his Jamaican estate - name the Lodge after an operation.

It was an attempt to delve into Bonds past, the quesion before Skyfall was country, where Bond answered England, the psychiatrist naturally opted for Skyfall as the next question to attempt to acertain why Bond would answer Engalnd when he was born in Scotland.
