So, we know the deal: the gunbarrel sequence is the graphic, surreal little scene which comes at the beginning (or end!) of a Bond movie and lets us know that it's James Bond 007 that we're watching. But which other movie series have similar little repeated identifiers?

Maybe the most cheeky are Martin Campbell's Zorro movies: they begin with Zorro walking on stage left, turning to camera and then swishing his blade at the viewer, forming a flaming 'Z'.

The 90's Batman movies end with Batman and Robin running towards the camera.

The Superman movies all end with a sequence where Superman flies over the Earth, looks at the camera and smiles and then soars up and away.

Apparently Friday the 13th: 'Jason Takes Manhattan' begins with Jason walking down a tunnel, turning at the camera and throwing his machete, at which point blood drips down the screen!

Does the Star Wars opening count? Do you know any other movies series with gunbarrel equivalents?

It was Friday the 13th VI: Jason Lives.

I'm not named 00Hockey Mask for no reason.

The 90's Batman movies end with Batman and Robin running towards the camera.

The Nolan Batman flicks, too, all open with a stylized image of a bat.

And the Indiana Jones flicks all open with that transition from the Paramount Pictures logo to an image of a mountain, if that qualifies.

The Rocky films have their own "gunbarrel". As Bill Conti's Rocky Theme plays, the film's title (e.g. ROCKY III) glides majestically across the screen from left to right.

As with Bond's gunbarrel sequence, this tends to take place at the start of a PTS (which in the case of a Rocky outing is usually a recap of the final fight from the previous film), with the main credits sequence following a few minutes later.
