Ref the Eon approval, that is an interesting question.

Don't know if you read the interview I did with the Sky chap who put together the Sky HD 007 channel car chase advert, but certainly the visuals were not to be tampered with in any way. That said, they were forced to completely re-record the sound due to the way the original sound was laid to track but the finished product was probably indiscernible to the common ear from the original sound.

Yeah, that's exactly what made me think of that- they don't seem keen on people tinkering with their stuff.

That said: it was much more impressive without the whistle! I think they also sped it up to remove the slo-mo effect too.

I must wonder also if Mr Barry was responsible for the slide whistle...?

Its highly probable it wasn't Barry but the sound mixer(s) but the decision had to come from someone higher up. Probably it was Guy, Tom or someone said to the sound mixer: "Put a slide whistle there."

No mention for the FYEO Lotuses either.

Well they already had a lengthy segment on the Lotus for TSWLM and the only thing the FYEO Lotus really did was blow up =)

Sure, but the DBS didn't even do that! Nor did it look cool wearing skis :)

No it didn't...? It got shot a bit and covered in flowers, but that's all.

Sorry, I was implying the Aston Martin in The Living Daylights. But that was a V8 vantage not a DBS, I forgot that

Who gives a damn about the cars? Sir Roger's moments where all priceless. I loved his TMWTGG stunt story.

Awesome special. But I wish they spent a bit more time on the Vantage Volante from TLD. Its one of my favorites. (:

Loved it, and if any Americans have not seen it, download it now. Well-researched show with excellent interviews with Guy Hamilton, Roger Moore and Daniel Craig.

Amazon UK lists the running time at 93 minutes.  Is this the same as the original, or did they possibly add anything?

The Top Gear Bond 50th Anniversary show is being released on DVD in February, supposedly with some extra interview segments.

HEADS UP: The next episode of Top Gear will feature the Austin Martin Vanquish

Just bought this on DVD from HMV who have it for £4.99 (at first I thought it was a typo) - but only for a limited time.

Great piece; thanks for that.

Is it out on Blu Ray at all? Those driving shots looked great in HD.

If any Bond fan has not seen this, now is the time to check it out.

It is not just about the Bond cars and features interviews with Roger Moore, Daniel Craig but also Ola Rapace and Guy Hamilton and they even try to recreate the cars from TSWLM and DAD.

Oh, excellent. We do get Top Gear in Germany (with "voice-over" dubbing), but I don't think they show them in any particular order. On Monday, they had an episode from 2007 (!), but I know that not too long ago, I saw one with Mark Webber that was from 2013...

Saw Clarkson on the Skyfall premiere. Most remarkable: while everyoneone else came in big bold beautiful cars (except Boris Becker and his wife - they had a taxi), he came on foot. And I don't think he was on the guest list, as he snuck in on the side like any other ordinary guy. That's hat you get for omitting the TMWTGG whistle... :D

One of the things I loved about the documentary was that it was almost a history of Bond in general, not just the cars.
