I do not place Silva because I have not already seen Skyfall actually.

About Blofeld, I rank the 3 actors differently in the ranking.

Personnally, for each movie, I consider the main villain, not the secondaries. Except for TWINE, I rank both Renard and Elektra.
In FRWL, I consider Rosa Klebb as the main villain. And Withaker in TLD.

1. Auric Goldfinger
2. Max Zorin
3. Francisco Scaramanga
4. Elliot Carver
5. Gustav Graves
6. Hugo Drax
7. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Charles Gray)
8. Franz Sanchez
9. Rosa Klebb
10. Dr No
11. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Telly Savalas)
12. Karl Stromberg
13. Le Chiffre
14. Alec Trevelyan
15. Dominic Greene
16. Emilio Largo
17. Brad Withaker
18. Dr Kananga/Mr Big
19. Elektra King
20. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Donald Pleasence)
21. Renard
22. Khemal Khan
23. Aris Kristatos

1 - Max Zorin (AVTAK) - He was just insane. Not only is Christopher Walken a great actor, but he pulled off the character of Zorin so well IMO. Gunning down his own men in the mine, as well as laughing before his own death, just shows how crazy he was.

2 - Francisco Scaramanga (TMWTGG) - Well what do ya know? My top 2 villains are from films that are regarded as not-so good. I'm not in love with TMWTGG as much as I am with AVTAK, but still I thought that Scaramanga was a fine and memorable villain, almost like bond's equal.

3 - Alec Trevelyan (GE) - Speaking of bond's equal..... that's how I see 006. A fine performance by Sean Bean in a fine movie.

4 - Ernst Stavro Blofeld (OHMSS) - I'm ranking all three Blofeld's differently.... and I think that the strongest, by far, was the OHMSS Blofeld... He just seemed more sinister to me.

5 - Kamal Khan (OP) - Now here's a suprise for people. I've always liked Kamal Khan - I thought he had great chemistry with Bond. (If Orlov is considered the main villain then I'd rank him between 14 and 15...)

6 - Auric Goldfinger (GF) - As some of you know, I don't love GF as much as most other bond fans. But still, I have to admit, Auric Goldfinger was a memorable, iconic villain, who had great dialogue.

7 - Elektra King (TWINE) - Screw Renard (who I'd rank between 19 and 20), Elektra was the main villain in this for me. Very interesting to have a female main villain, and IMO it worked perfectly.... Speaking of which...

8 - Rosa Klebb (FRWL) - I actually prefer Red Grant to Rosa Klebb (who I'd rank in 3rd place actually)... but I consider Rosa to be the main villain, with Red Grant as the henchman. But anyway, Rosa Klebb was a fine villain, pretty scary, and memorable.

9 - Franz Sanchez (LTK) - A great, memorable villain. Great performance by Robert Davi.

10 - Dr Julius No (DN) - Ahh, the original. He was a decent villain. Nothing outstanding to me, but he did have a good plan, and I also liked how you didn't properly see him until very late on in the film.

11 - Emilio Largo (TB) - Thunderball is one of my least favourite bond films. Nothing against it, but it just mainly bored me. However, Largo is, to be fair, one of the film's redeeming features. And the eyepatch rules.

12 - Ernst Stavro Blofeld (YOLT) - So why is this Blofeld a lot lower than the OHMSS one? To be honest, I'm not quite sure why. Not bad by all means, but he just didn't grab me like the OHMSS one did...

13 - Dr Kananga (LALD) - He was ok. LALD is perhaps my favourite bond film, for nostalgic reasons. But Kananga isn't exactly one of the reasons why I love the film so much... but he's still ok.

14 - Le Chiffre (CR) - Kind of indifferent to him. But he was one of the more memorable 'recent' villains. It's a shame Bond himself didn't kill him though...

15 - Aristotle Kristatos (FYEO) - Not a strong villain really. But he did have his good points, and I liked how he tried to put the blame on Columbo. One of the most realistic bond villains.

16 - Ernst Stavro Blofeld (DAF) - Well, by far the weakest Blofeld for me. Charles just didn't pull it off as well as the others IMO. However, it's still Blofeld afterall... The cross-dressing scene doesn't bother me due to being so hilarious.

17 - Georgi Koskov (TLD) - I consider him the main villain rather than Brad Whitaker. Anyway... this is where the main bond villains get bad IMO. Koskov was just a weasel. The only reason why he's beating a handful is because he succeeded in getting people to believe he was a good guy (for a while, anyway). (If Whitaker is considered the main villain, then I'd rank him bottom of the entire pile - nothing about him that I liked whatsoever).

18 - Elliot Carver (TND) - Ok, Carver has the most ridiculous plot ever. I fail to take a Rupert Murdoch-esque bond villain seriously. Carver USED to be my all-time least favourite villain. However, I've changed my mind. Why? Because at least he's memorable.

19 - Gustav Graves (DAD) - By all means, a weak villain. However, if Toby Stephens could actually act in this, then he would probably shoot up a few places.

20 - Karl Stromberg (TSWLM) - This man sat down on his chair for like, 95% of his screen time?

21 - Dominic Greene (QOS) - Now I have nothing against Dominic Greene. And he was acted well. But for a bond villain, he was just far too forgettable for me.

22 - Hugo Drax (MR) - One-dimensional with a ridiculous plot.

This could be tough. I'd rather group them into letter-grades (and I reserve the right to change my mind later).

[A] Well-acted, memorable, and menacing, with clear motives and an interesting scheme

Auric Goldfinger
Kananga
Max Zorin
Franz Sanchez
Alec Trevelyan

[B] Well acted and memorable, but with unclear motives or a stupid scheme

Blofeld (Telly Savalas)
Blofeld (Charles Gray)
Francisco Scaramanga
Renard

[C] Clear motives and a cogent scheme, but not very memorable or distinctive

Emilio Largo
Stromberg
Hugo Drax
Elektra King
Le Chiffre

[D] Forgettable, with unclear motives or a stupid scheme

Julius No
Blofeld (Donald Pleasence)
Aris Kristatos
Elliot Carver

[F] Unworthy of Bond's time

Kamal Khan / General Orlov
Georgi Koskov / Brad Whitaker
Gustav Graves
Dominic Greene

Oh my gosh, gonna have to come back and do this when I have more time! For now, maybe the top five...

1. Rosa Klebb: Ya gotta love the knuckles and the shoes. Faithful to the literary version too!
2. Franz Sanchez : Three dimensional and chilling believable. The bastard killed Della and fed Felix to the sharks for God's sake (though Mr. Big does that in the books, but still...) no wonder Bond chucks it all and goes after him, the bastard!
3. Ernst S. Blofeld: Bond's ultimate nemisis in the books (Telly is my favorite)
4. Gustav Graves: Mainly because I liked the way the writers seemed to play on Fleming's false identity villian in the novel Moonraker
5. Koskov: Another 3 demensional character that was entertaining and deadly.

A cracking idea - so many good choices. I'll base my choices on their schemes and goals, their personaility and evil traits, and the actor portraying them. My list from the current 22 films out on release are...

1. Max Zorin (Christopher Walken, AVTAK)

2. Dr.Kananga / Mr Big (Yaphet Kotto, LALD)

3. Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen, CR)

4. Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi, LTK)

5. Alec Trevelyan (Sean Bean, GE)

6. Doctor No (Jospeh Wiseman, DN)

7. Auric Goldfinger (Gert Frobe, GF)

8. Francisco Scaramanga (Christopher Lee, TMWTGG)

9. Ernst Stavro Blofeld v.3 (Charles Gray, DAF)

10. Red Grant & Rosa Klebb (Robert Shaw & Lotte Lenya, FRWL)

11. Hugo Drax (Michale Lonsdale, MR)

12. Gustav Graves (Toby Stephens, DAD)

13. Kamal Kahn (Louis Jordan, OP)

14. Ernst Stavro Blofeld v.1 (Donald Pleasence, YOLT)

15. Emilio Largo (Adolfo Celi, TB)

16. Ernst Stavro Blofeld v.2 (Telly Savalas, OHMSS)

17. Karl Stromberg (Curt Jurgens, TSWLM)

18. Renard & Elektra King (Robert Carlyle & Sophie Marceau, TWINE)

19. Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric, QOS)

20. Georgi Koskov & Brad Whittaker (Jeron Krabe & Joe Don Baker, TLD)

21. Aristotle Kristatos (Julian Glover, FYEO)

22. Elliott Carver (Jonathan Pryce, TND)

I can alreay predict Raoul Silva (Javier Bardem, SF) will rocket into the Top 5 and knock Alec Trevelyan out come Friday 26th.

Just based on Bardem's performance in the "toy store" clip, I fully expect him to rank alongside Zorin and Sanchez.

I haven't followed through with my plans to marathon the Bond movies like I wanted to, so I can only give you a not-so hazy memory top 5 and bottom 5.

Top-
Telly Savalas' Blofeld
Goldfinger
Dominic Greene
Alec Trevelyan
Francisco Scaramanga

Bottom-
Kananga/Mr. Big
Donald Pleasence's Blofeld
Karl Stromberg
Brad Whitaker
Kamal Khan

If and when I do marathon them, I'll expand and update this list.

Well Raoul Silva has knocked Alec Trevelyan off my top 5 - he's my second favourite, under Max Zorin. Engrossing to watch and his motives are simple and not stupid or drawn out.

He's clever, cunning, twisted, hurt and evil. Well done Javier!

Tricky one, this, but I'll have a shot:

1. Hugo Drax - for the best one-liners of any villain, and the fact his evil plan involves SPACE, THE MENTAL CASE!

2. Alec Trevelyan - Sean Bean is ace, and he was a physical, emotional test for Bond, a dark reflection.

3. Raoul Silva - very similar reasons to Trevelyan, but I'll say no more except Javier Bardem is off the [censored]ing chain!

4. Franz Sanchez - cool, collected and a right evil bastard. Very underrated bad guy.

5. Max Zorin - Christopher Walken. 'Nuff said.

6. Kamal Khan - one liners again, and Louis Jourdan's priceless facial expression when his car won't start and when Orlov destroys the egg.

7. Auric Goldfinger - for the laser beam, and how his fat [censored] managed to get sucked out of a tiny plane window.

8. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (YOLT) - Pleasance is camp as hell, but equally creepy.

9. Rosa Klebb - never will there be a better closet lesbian with a knife in her shoe on film.

10. Francisco Scaramanga - nipples and guns. There's just not enough of Christopher Lee on screen.

11. Elektra King - a classy, seductive foil played well by Sophie Marceau, who deserved a better movie behind her.

12. Le Chiffre - Mads Mikklesen is perhaps a touch too passive, but he's great at being icy.

13. Dr. No - similar to Le Chiffre, he's just not on screen enough.

14. Emilio Largo - classy villain, he's just a bit dull bar the eye patch.

15. Karl Stromberg - fat, lazy git. Does he ever not sit down in TSWLM?

16. Renard - such a wasted opportunity for poor Robert Carlyle; barely on screen and neutered when he is.

17. Ari Kristatos - Julian Glover deserved better than this slimy, lecherous wimp.

18. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (OHMSS) - I'd rather just watch Kojak and see the same character there, for all the difference.

19. Mr. Big - a great villain, he's just in the wrong franchise.

20. Dominic Greene - zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

21. Elliot Carver - Bond vs an OAP.

22. Brad Whitaker - a pointless tosser.

23. Gustav Graves - oh just piss off you smug [censored]!

24. Ernst Stavro Blofeld (DAF) - the dress. WHY THE DRESS, FOR THE LOVE OF SPECTRE?!!!
