Guess we'll get a lot of these, so one thread might be better than loads.

I almost can't stand Naomi's hair in Skyfall. The longer, straight look she's often sporting in real life is infinitely more gorgeous.

I like the backdrop they've used in the interviews.

Can't say I disagree with either of the last two posts. A lovely backdrop and Naomi looks much more attractive in person with the straight hair than the frizzy hair-do...

"Mendes drafted in John Logan (The Aviator) to rework the initial script written by regular Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade and originally called Silver Bullet."

Now isn't that interesting; a great bit of Bond trivia. What was Skyfall originally called in the early drafts?

A reference to the deadly, driven Silva perhaps?

I doubt they would ever have called the actual film that, though, because of the Stephen King werewolf movie.

I posted the article before fully reading through it, but there really are some great details in there. As you said, SILVER BULLET is a great bit of pub quiz trivia. Also very interested reading about John Logan's comments; he seems really tuned into Bond/Fleming and sounds like he could be an asset for any future instalments too.

A Bond movie with "silver" in the title?

I thought, "golden" was the way to go...

There are silver bullets also in Carte Blanche. Maybe a reference to Bond parents' death?

Yes, more testament that Skyfall has been made by people who understand and love Bond.

EDIT: I just noticed that that was my 3000th post and I turned into a ‘Commander’.

Sam Mendes: Licence to Thrill - A Culture Show Special

Wednesday 24th October 2012, 22:00, BBC Two

Duration: 30 minutes

Mark Kermode talks to director Sam Mendes about his latest film, Skyfall - the 23rd outing of the James Bond series. Featuring contributions from Skyfall stars Daniel Craig, Javier Bardem and Dame Judi Dench, this Culture Show Special also reflects on Mendes' prolific career in both film and theatre. From directing Dench in the West End at just 24 years of age, to sweeping the board at the Oscars with his debut movie American Beauty, Mendes has always done things his way. Celebrated for his visual elegance and ability to coax great performances from his actors, the director reveals why he wanted to take on Bond and what surprises lie in store for Skyfall audiences around the world.

Thanks for posting those. Some nice insights there. I particularly like that Sam Mendes purposely requested a 1962 bottle of whisky for a scene.

Interesting that Mendes directly references "Bond 19" in the interview. The similarities with TWINE must have come up in conversation.

Warning that there's quite a big spoiler mentioned in the first one, which actually is then mentioned in the second. Very good news though. :)
