Had a informative phone call just now from my colleague in IT listening to the radio down the way that Classic FM will be broadcasting a special recording of James Bond musical arrangements spanning the 50 years of the franchise from 8pm.

Tune in on FM 100-102 or listen on Sky Channel 0106 or Virgin Media Channel 922.

The show will be 2 hours long and feature non other than David Arnold and Thomas Newman!

This taken from the website:

Classic FM will broadcast a special celebration of music from the James Bond movies on October 19th at 8pm. The programme is hosted by film music expert Tommy Pearson, and will also feature Bond composers David Arnold and Thomas Newman.

David Arnold has scored five consecutive James Bond films, while Thomas Newman makes his Bond debut with the soundtrack to the forthcoming 23rd official Bond film, Skyfall. The show will be titled 'A James Bond Celebration: The Music of 007' and was recorded in the Global Theatre at Classic FM's headquarters.

Music from previous Bond composers John Barry right up to David Arnold and Thomas Newman will be discussed. The broadcast will also feature contributions from film music professor and Bond music expert Jon Burlingame, who joined the studio audience via a live video link from Los Angeles.

A reminder that this starts in just over 10 minutes. Lots of decent features on the Classic FM website in anticipation of it.

That was an enjoyable listen, and certainly the longest I’ve ever listened to Classic FM. Interesting and diverse mix of Bond tracks, plus an extra bit of Newman and Arnold’s non-Bond work. Both came across as top guys. Nice programme put together by Classic FM and Tommy Pearson.

James Bond Theme – Monty Norman
Capsule in Space – John Barry (You Only Live Twice)
Spectre Island – John Barry (From Russia With Love)
Man Overboard / SMERSH in Action – John Barry (From Russia With Love)
The Arrival of the Bomb and Count Down – John Barry (Goldfinger)
007 and Counting – John Barry (Diamonds Are Forever)
Mr Wint and Mr Kidd / Bond to Holland – John Barry (Diamonds Are Forever)
Any Other Name - Thomas Newman (American Beauty)
WALL-E – Thomas Newman (WALL-E)
City of Lovers – David Arnold (Casino Royale)
Stargate Overture – David Arnold (Stargate)
Run, Shoot and Jump – Eric Serra (GoldenEye)
Backseat Driver – David Arnold (Tomorrow Never Dies)
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – John Barry (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service)
Anya – Marvin Hamlisch (The Spy Who Loved Me)
Licence Revoked – Michael Kamen (Licence to Kill)
Komodo Dragon – Thomas Newman (Skyfall)
The Name’s Bond… James Bond – David Arnold (Casino Royale)
She’s Mine – Thomas Newman (Skyfall)
007 – John Barry (Thunderball)
