Felix Baumgartner "breaks the speed of sound"
I'm sure some of you will have been tuned into the TV or web to watch this today. An astonishing achievement, with some scarcely believable facts and figures to go with it. 833mph (1,340kph)? Not sure I can get my head around that.
Disclaimer: I must admit to partly starting this thread simply to use my SKYFALL gag...

Over at the Star Trek forums, aren't they referring to FB as 'the real-life Capt. Kirk (Ret'd)?

Jesus Christ!
Must have been bloody terrifying when he was spinning head over heels. Guess he could only regain control of that when there was some air to provide resistance.
Incredible achievement.

Nice pun Vauxhall!
An extraordinary moment to see - one that just bewilders the mind at what he did. Over 800mph free falling, and he lands 6 minutes later fine and well. What a sight it was seeing it take place.
Certainly a 'Skyfall' indeed, and a fantastic sight to see the Earth from the edges of space.
Roger Moore's free-fall was better....

Marvellous stunt. I suggest the guy retires and all his descendants become accountants, their ancestor used up luck for generations...

It's remarkable how nothing went wrong - not that it should, but considering... the human mind, when put to the test, is a wonderful creation and can create anything it seems to push man further!

Watched it yesterday, very impressive. But the Union Jack still looks way better on a parachute than the Austrian flag

Bit thoughtless really on Felix's part, considering it's Bond 50th Anniversary he could have slipped in a bit of shameless promotion for the series...! Good call stromberg!

I agree with Stromberg- a Union Jack would have looked much better , but kudos to Felix for making such a historical jump!
