BTW tickets are open to the public for those of you who think it's just a film industry exclusive. The Academy's theater is the best in the world and rumor has it that Vic Flick may just be bringing his guitar with him...................................

I'm going and looking thus far like I'll have an empty seat next to me; anyone fancy joining me?

The Academy presentation was great. I know that's just what you wanted to hear. Jon moderated it with humor and good timing. It never lagged and the interviews with the guests were spot on. Stories of Barry pushing Bassey to hold the last note of Goldfinger and her taking off her bra to get that extra bit of breath were very refreshing. Brit Eckland, Maud Adams, Lynn Holly Johnson and other Bond Girls showed up as well as a prerecorded greeting and dissertation from Roger Moore. Vic Flick got a standing ovation for his performance of the James Bond theme on the original guitar. All in all it turned out very well and ended with a snippet of the SKYFALL theme of course.

I actually got bumped-up to Invited Guest status so gave my tickets away to stand-bys who must have started gathering around 5.

Agree it was a terrific night and possibly the best of the US events that day. Presentation got a bit spotty starting with the Dalton years, skipping GE and QoS entirely, for example. But then, it could easily have gone on four hours if Burlingame had maintained the same level of detail 'til the end.

If the event is an indicator of content, then I'm eagerly awaiting the new book.

Here are pics from the reception and event:

Anybody else go, other than Alan and myself?

Here is a great article rounding out the evening.
