James Bond novels published in Spain still have saucy words like 'virgin' and 'breast' removed to avoid causing offence (Daily Mail)

That's because Spain knows what Bond can do with his little finger ...

I'd love to write something on this as I'm very intrerested in the hidden censoring of the James Bond novels in translations around the globe. Does Doubleshot (2000) by Raymond Benson get a significant editing in Spain, for example, given its UK-Spain political content regarding Gibraltar?
Also, what of the bull fighting scenes - especially now (from 2011) as Catalonia has become the first Spanish province to ban bull fighting.

General Francisco Franco Fascist Spain is mentioned in From Russia, With Love as a potential SMERSH target, with the note that the Soviets have lost many good men to the fascists. Colonel Rosa Klebb also betrayed a member involved in the Spanish Civil War who was her lover, I think. I think these references must have been removed from this novel, at least. This is very interesting news indeed. I always knew about the so-called American 'race-edits' of LALD and DAF, but not that Spain also censored the Bond novels. Makes you wonder how many other countries censored the Bond novels really...
See my Bondologist Blog: www.thebondologistblog.blogspot.co.uk for an article on edited, censored and banned Bond novels:

This very interesting news would makle for a great new article in itself...if only I had some Spanish! Also, I wonder what modern-day Spain made of Doubleshot (2000) by Raymond Benson? The censoring of James Bond novels is one of my special interests in the research cluster that is my Bondologist Blog. I think I'll write next on the many 'race edits' made to LALD and DAF in the United States in the Berkeley editions of the 1950s, changes which were only restored in 2002 by the Penguin books republication of the novels in the US.
