I would like to show you my Bond set yield of my short trip to Vienna. The trips motto: 25 Years of "The Living Daylights" in Vienna.

The Antonigasse was Bratislava in the film. In the house with the No. 92 was Karas flat. We have gone by the tram 42. This line was also used in the film. Only the line number and the logo of the "Wiener Linien" was changed.

Here some pictures, taken by me, and screens from the film:

The streetcar depot: Bond get out there with the cello box of the tram. The depot is located in the Kreuzgasse (in parallel with the Antonigasse). Today a supermarket is accommodated there. The great building is behind an ugly new building which was built on the forecourt. During the last 25 years something has been changed. Luckily the nice old buildings are preserved.

The public toilets in which Bond pulled Karas address from the cello box are on the right from the depot (supermarket). The doors are closed. No chance for a look inside:

In the film the Gasometer A served as a scenery. The gas pipelines do not exist any more, because the gasometres were altered. It is a shopping centre and flats in these 4 buildings.

Palais Schwarzenberg was the hotel in Bond and Kara in Vienna have descended.

http://i271.photobuc...Guhausstrae.jpg

Topically the hotel is closed. The place before the palace is a public parking bay. Only I will not park there certainly. 3.40€ for one hour is usury.

Here some pictures:

And a screen from the film:

The stair used in the film and entrance was not accessible. Hence, only the pictures of the building.

If Bond is already in Vienna, he must drive with Kara Riesenrad in the Prater and visit the bustle. I have taken only photos of the Riesenrad and the cabin 10. I have saved the driving shops in the Prater, because during the last 25 years something has changed. The Prater Cafe used in the film was a film scenery in Pinewood.

Schloss Schönbrunn might not be absent. Bond and Kara went by the Fiaker (cab) through Vienna. Schönbrunn was one of the stations. In the film an orchestra on the balcony played and a dance group danced waltz. You could still see the Gloriette in the background.

The Volksoper shows the music conservatoire in Bratislava in the film.

Here some pictures made by me:

You can see this "Underground" lane brigde in the Background during the opera scenes.

In this building Bond and Whitaker have hidden. Bond should switch off from a balcony, the 'sniper'. Unfortunately, the small store Schokoladen Eck had lunchbreak, as we were there.

The owners of the store are proud of the fact that her business was used as a film Set. In a narrow glass glass cabinet in the entrance hang these pictures of Timothy Dalton and a report in the "Neuen Film Kurier".

Some really fun shots: thank you for sharing. I didn't realise that Vienna doubled for Bratislava.

Thanks for this, I can sense there was a lot of love that went into this post - and I for one appreciate it. TLD is one of my favourites. I had no idea that they used Vienna for the Bratislava scenes so much...

Wonderful stuff. When someday I visit Vienna I'll have to make a pilgrimage. For many years I assumed that they just filmed the thing in Bratislava, as if that would have been remotely feasible. Vienna was an excellent choice as a double.

Outstanding reporting there D_C. Really nice to see then "then and now" shots and a great insight to what still remains 25 years on!

Excellent thread!

These are my favorites, love it when members visit old Bond locations, I remember enjoying some pictures that
a few gents on here posted, of a trip to Switzerland, where they visited some OHMSS locations!

Really appreciate the pics!
