I liked the DAD Homages and thought it would be fun start a thread about which ones have already been seen in the SF trailers. Some may just be coincidence but here are the ones I've noticed or have been brought to my attention. What do you think?

The signature gun / LTK
The painting behind Severine / DN
Bond's Obituary / YOLT / TND
Silva's Island / DR / TMWTGG / GE
Bond swimming in the pool / GE
MI6 exploding / TWINE
The train sequence / OP
The shower scene / TB
The DB5 scenes / GF
Bond waiting for M at her place / CR

Grey suit - homage to Bond's wardrobe in Goldfinger
Silva's hair - homage to Max Zorin
Padded office door - homage to Bernard Lee-era MI6 decor
Giant fallen statue on Silva's island - homage to statue park in GoldenEye
Macau casino - homage to the Macau casino in The Man With The Golden Gun.
Q's skinny-boy sweater - homage to those MI6 radio operators at the beginning of Dr No

Okay, I'll play.

Adjusting cufflinks / GE & TWINE (necktie)
Breaking through ice & underground HQ / DAD
Sailboat & tied to a chair / CR
Target shooting / TMWTGG & NSNA
Motorcycles / NSNA & QoS
Shotgun / TB & MR
Flag-draped coffins / YOLT
Bond falling / TWINE
Burning building / AVTAK, LTK & QoS
Girl in shower / DN, LALD, TMWTGG, TSWLM, AVTAK & TND,
Helicopter / Every Bond film except DN & TMWTGG
Plus:
Silva's cage / Silence of the Lambs
Jogging in the park / Rocky
Running down a city street / Patriot Games & every other action movie ever made.

If you think I'm stretching the point to make a point - that's my point.

Ah, I missed that one - good catch.
As for the other two, and the 'skinny-boy' sweaters - good stretch.

Bond's Obituary / TND

Can't remember when it does happen. Wait... you mean the one done on TV by Carver?

(Or is comparing anything in DAD to anything in Skyfall too perfidious to be allowed?)

Im confused.
Is the painting behind Severine in the trailer the same painting that Dr. No has in his lair? Looks different to me.

Also when will loads of rats feature in SF? That ones news to me.

Nope. The only connection is they're both stolen paintings.

Silva's island.

The Zorin-Silva similarity connection screams out to me immediately.

All the others have been stated already!

There is also that scene of Bond hanging on the elevator which could play out like DAF or AVTAK.

It would be a coincidence, but it's possible the 40th and 50th anniversary main title singers will go by one name.

...Or could this all just be coincidence, onaccounta just about everything having already been done over the course of 22-films in a single genre ?

On opening night I'll be concentrating on watching the new story unfold, rather than counting up similarities to bleat about later.

That's what home video is for.

Some interesting iconography on Severine. It looks like the character tattooed on the inside of her wrist. Is that like the East Asian equivalent of a dollar-sign tattoo? It makes an interesting counterpoint to the Jesus fish necklace.

Do you think we're not seeing this as homages, but just things that have cropped up over the last 50 years? I think there will be very few, minimal nods to the previous films. I reckon the homage will be the simple feel, look and payoff of the film itself that could take us back 10, 20 and 40 years.

Off topic... S K Y F A L L that picture is smouldering my screen! Nice one...!

You're on the mark AMC. I stand with you on this. Only so many variations in this franchise. Duplication is inevitable.

Not as many throwbacks as I was expecting, but I did enjoy the line, "For her eyes only", a lot of them were simply a reference in dialog and nicely done.

Silva offers Bond a 50-year old MacCallan and says something about "his favorite year" - 1962 is clearly visible on the bottle. Besides the subtle nods mentioned above, the scotch was the only overt wink to the audience that I noticed.
