What I meant, not explained well, is that the album release IS the film version. Though, as you say, this may not be the case.

No, according to me the film version of "You Know My Name" was published.I don't understand what you mean by "This stands as the film version already"; but what I do know is that the film version of You Know My Name remains unpublished... which IMO it's such a big shame!. In fact, I would buy a whole 2CD compilation, if they put at least that version from CR score, not only for collections purposes, but because it's so much better than the other versions.
What I'd like to see is an album collection of the actual film versions of the songs and themes. Probably some bureaucratic red tape preventing this but would make a change from the standard compilation each time. Some differences are obvious whilst others are more subtle. Of course for some of the below, an expanded album wouldn't go amiss anyway.
1. Gunbarrel and James Bond Theme leading into Three Blind mice from Doctor No.
2. James Bond is back From Russia With Love (with the extra Bond theme intro bar and emphasized maracas)
3. Goldfinger Into Miami ( I think this stands as the film version already)
4. Dawn Raid on Fort Knox (as in the film)
4. Thunderball (This stands as the film version already)
5. You Only LIve Twice (This stands as the film version already)
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service (with the two extra descending theme bars at the end)
7. We Have All The Time In The World (shorter version as in the film and emphasized guitars)
8. Ice Skating music from OHMSS. (I think this exists but couldn't fit on the expanded album)
9. Diamonds Are Forever (the expanded album seems to haev given us the film version but Bassey's voice does sound different on the actual film)
10. Live and let Die (shorter version as in the film)
11. The Man With The Golden Gun (This stands as the film version already)
12. Nobody Does it Better (shorter version without the fading out)
13. Bond 77 (film version)
14. Moonraker (shorter version as in the film)
15. For Your Eyes Only (This stands as the film version already)
16. All Time High (This stands as the film version already)
17. A View To A Kill (I think the film has a shorter version)
18. The Living Daylights (shorter version as in the film)
19. Licence To Kill (shorter version as in the film with Gladys Knight singing 'Licence to Kill' instead of 'Licence to Kilt')
20. GoldenEye (film version)
21. Tomorrow Never Dies (This stands as the film version already)
22. The World Is Not Enough (This stands as the film version already)
23. Die Another Day (This stands as the film version already)
24. You Know My Name (This stands as the film version already)
25. Another Way to Die (film version)
Feel free to correct me on any of the above)

Sadly (for all of us Bond fans), you're wrong... I've got the same two tracks CD single and that line in the cover it' s a false promise. It contains the "Main Version" which is the take for the airplay, and the "Pop Mix" which is the one that features in the promo clip, but not in the movie; if you listen carefully you can notice the difference- not only is extended, but has less orchestra presence-No, according to me the film version of "You Know My Name" was published.

I've got it.
It's a two tracks CD from SURETONE (a division of UMG RECORDINGS INC.) named "Chris CORNELL - "You Know my name" as featured in the motion picture CASINO ROYALE", which contains the version we can hear in the movie and the version we've been used to listen on the radio.

Disappointing. Not one previously unreleased track (unless I missed something). And not including the Adele song instantly puts it out of date.
Ironic that the 30th anniversary release was better than this one, 20 years later--and without even a new Bond film that year.
However, the 40th anniversary soundtracks with the up to then previously unreleased material would have presumably exhausted the potential for new material this time around. If I remember correctly, the masters for the the few scores without anything additional had been lost forever--at least that was the announcement then.
Are there plans to rerelease the scores--with possibly newly unearthed material?
I understand that only the Moonraker tape was destroyed.
Golden Gun and TSWLM exist, they have both complete scores in the vaults, but last time there was no time and money anymore and they stopped after the LALD expanded cd.
There was only time and money to do one more expanded score and they chose to do the LALD score.
TSWLM score (ca 24 tracks!) was also too expensive to get it on cd, that's also why they didn't include the gunbarrel and movie version of the tankchase on the GoldenEye remaster.
Somehow they have not the rights for the LtK score, that's why it was excluded from the remasters release.
All the other ones (Dr. No, FRWL, Goldfinger, Octopussy, AVTAK), they have never realy searched for those, no one knows if these tapes still exist or not... UA/MGM doesn't really care about it.

I had read that it was in France somewhere, since that's where MR was made.

Yes, but not anymore. There's here another topic where it was discussed. A couple of years ago the French recordingstudio opend it's vaults and everybody from whom there were tapes, was asked to come and collect them, otherwise the remaining tapes would be destroyed. Barry or United Artists didn't collect them, so changes are zero that the tapes are somehow preserved and kept.

That's tragic.
Moonraker is one of the best scores in my opinion, though I really cannot stand the Bond theme that Barry uses
for the Roger Moore films, far too weak, Moonraker having the worse variation.

That's tragic.
And thankfully not true. Tapes exist, though they're not the best quality. But Moonraker wasn't an audiophile recording to begin with...

Hopefully the rest of the Bond scores, not included in the 2002 expanded titles, are expanded and reissued very soon.
The Star Trek soundtrack remastered / expanded releases by La La Land, FSM and Intrada have been amazing.
