"Javier is really extraordinary in this film and the blonde wig he wears is part of his story."

So, apart from dye, what would turn somebody's hair blond? Being exposed to some kind of radioactive, or toxic, material, perhaps?

Or he lost all his hair due to said exposure, and the blond is, literally, a wig.

Umm.. his eyebrows are blond too.
He could have bleached them to match his wig, possibly.

The wig? Thanks for the hint Barbara. Let the speculation begin.

Silva is wearing the wig in the jail cell right? So perhaps it has a non traceable GPS in it for his henchman to find him or something to break out with?

He could use it to suffocate the guard. “I just wanted toupee my respects,” he could then sneer at the body at his feet.

Slow down there, Roger circa 1979.

it wasn't a serious suggestion... honestly.

Really, I think he should just dip the wig in chloroform and render the guard unconscious – but still make the appalling toupee gag.

It could just be an eccentric character thing. Silva is a vain, insecure fancy-man, so he sports an expensive golden wig handmade by a Portuguese chap in Macau. The wig illustrates his vanity, and his vanity is a major factor in his quest for vengeance. Ergo, the wig is "part of his story".

A (slightly) sensible question might be, is it intended to be a wig in the film?
I don't think it is.

He's 12 today. At the time he must have been around six, one assumes. But middle of nowhere is probably still spot on...

"He fell completely in love with Vesper and she betrayed him, so he realises, from that point, he can never be susceptible to a relationship again.”

Um, forgetting about Tracy?

I'd say she talks about the current timeline, Tracy didn't happen. But it also helps to actually take a look at the book. The final chapter sees Bond falling back to his pre-marriage-in-the-sky self that saw love merely as emotional baggage, best forgotten. Broccoli seems to understand the meaning of these passages pretty well.

That aside the one that's forgotten here is Tiffany, not Tracy.

How about albinism? His eyes are green, which can happen in a restrained form of it…

I've been thinking perhaps Silva and Kincade are like sleeper cells from the Cold War or something. I wish Barbara gave us a little more news on the wig.
