I saw this interesting discussion on Film Score Monthly's forum about a possible Dr No complete score release in August. Lots of maybe, rumour, and could-be involved but could it just possibly be true?

Here is the link to FSM:

and here is the link to Harkit Records:

Dr No know does not rate highly in my own Bond soundtrack league - it sounds terribly dated now (except for the James Bond Theme). But I would love to hear it complete and separate from the film. I don't have access to the John Barry Yahoo group mentioned so I do not know how the discussion has progressed there. This may all have been debunked already.

Interesting! Not sure that I would bother with a purchase of Dr. No, but would be interested in re issues of all of the other Bond scores, especially the Roger Moore ones which have not all been expanded..

Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, Octopussy and A View to a Kill.

Quite a run there.

Looks like it is not a rumour any longer:

Apparently available in October. I cannot see it on Amazon yet. Nor can I see anything on their own site: http://www.harkitrecords.com/main.html

A bit fishy, especially with the issues regarding the rights.

The real question for me is: why don´t we get a re-issue of every Bond soundtrack this year? The Bond Box would have been the perfect thing for every score collector.

It would've been.

Doctor No is a great movie, but let's face it, the music isn't a strong point...

True.

I just don´t understand why a box set with the scores was not attempted for this year? But hey, Bond 25 is only four or six years in the future...

Thanks. I hadn't heard about this one. Probably a pass for me though as I have everything on it.
For the casual fan perhaps? All of the themes on 1 cd?
I think they'll have to go to 2 cd's for the next one...

I'm pretty disappointed with EMI and Capitol for not issuing the expanded Roger Moore 007 soundtracks...

Amazon.de have listed a 3 CD version.

Plus this might take our minds of a lack of CD reissues

I was wondering if a thread should be started on the Skyfall soundtrack.

A 3 cd collection for the Bond greatest hits collection?

Dr No thing sounds suspiciously like a bootleg?

According to the posters at FSM, the rights to the Dr. No music has now entered the public domain and has lead to this release. The music in No isn't really anything special, especially no where near Barry efforts, but the completist in my will pick it up if it proves to be legit.

So this 50 year rule will mean that the original John Barry orchestrated version of the Bond theme is going to be officially PD on 5th Oct? And Monty Norman will stop getting royalties from it? Interesting if it is indeed correct.
